run 2-3 tanks of Chevron 92 octane (or whatever you can get) and see if that helps. my D2 had a tough time starting and a rough idle. i was close to doing the coilpacks and tried changing my brand of gasoline from the cheap supermarket stuff to the Chevron. Problem solved. YMMV, GL.
Re: FS: Brake Light Switch, Valve Cover Gaskets with Hardware and Intake Plenum Gasket

Hey gang -
I sold my 2001 Disco II last year and forgot I had parts stil laying around. I was getting ready to do the Intake Plenum and Valve Covers but sold it before getting around to it.
Intake Gasket
Brand new in package gasket for Land Rover Intake Manifold - fits both 4.0 and 4.6 Rover...
Plugs & wires new at the 60k service....hmmm....i *might* have replaced the plugs last summer as well. Darned if I can recall.
At the most they have 3 years & about 20k miles on them.
Do the Disco IIs have Vehicle Speed Sensors? That was one of my first thoughts but I presume there would be...
Hey gang -
I have a 2000 Disco 2 with about 83,000 on the clock. Over the last few weeks it has developed an intermittent hesitation/jerking that I notice mainly at higher 40-50+ speeds.
I first noticed it a couple weeks ago on the freeway at about 70 mph: it felt like the engine was...
I will never buy another extended warranty. They always find ways to not pay.
I found out the hard way that my "bumper to bumper" warranty would only cover claims due to mechanical failures. So leaking gaskets/seals etc would not be covered.
Some people have had great luck with extended...
I had been using the orange coolant my whole life (that's what was in it when I bought it). I had it in to a well respected indie shop a few months back for a big repair (thought it was a head gasket, turned out to be the timing cover gasket) and he put the green coolant. I questioned him on...
That looks like it could be the steering box (BTDT) or one of about 2,000 other leaks.
Welcome to the Club.
The biggest piece of advice I can add is my endorsement for high-end 92 octane fuels (Chevron being my favorite). I was experiencing cold start and engine tapping issues a couple years...
Ouch man, good luck with that.
I just had mine in for what I *thought* was a head gasket but turned out to be the timing cover gasket. Not that it was all that cheap to repair. I think the Disco God's are giving me a bit of a break.
So the weirdest two things happened today...
I am getting ready to do a bunch of preventive maintenance on my Disco/get it ready for some summer fun so I take it to Les Schwab to have the tires rotated, the underside checked out etc.
I go back a few hours later to pick it up and get this: they...

Do a quick search on here for Northwest Parts. Search "Northwest Parts" and also "NWP".
A lot of people are having problems with their scheduling, order fulfilling and quality of work.
I would suggest calling NWP directly and if you aren't *immediately* satisfied, call your...
Timely topic.
I am picking my 2000 Disco with about 77k miles this afternoon.
It has been at an indie shop in PDX for a couple weeks due to it hemorrhaging coolant into the crankcase. I feared the dreaded head gasket, but it turned out to be a lesser gasket.
He replaced the throttle body...
I have a 2000 DII with about 77k miles. Owned it since 24k miles.
Repair work completed:
3 amigos - at least 4 trip to the dealer (warranty / no cost)
leaking xfer case seal - 1 trip to the dealer (warranty / no cost)
busted steering box - 1 trip to the dealer (warranty / no cost)

Hi gang. Disco is dead for now. Coolant just ain't staying in (it looks like it is coming from the passenger exhaust manifold) and I am reading myself for the bad news. I will try to take it like a man.
It overheated yesterday a couple blocks from home and I am not driving it any more until...
Hi all -
I have a 2000 Disco with about 77k on the clock.
For a couple years or so, I have noticed the coolant level seems to decline slightly. I would need to top it up every couple months or so. The throttle body heater plate was identified as the source of the leak (based on the crusty...
So I started this thread like two years ago and guess what? I never bought the Omega.
I've been off Dweb for ages, but a problem with my Disco brought me back today (problem solved, BTW).
Anyway,
I'm getting a Planet Ocean 45.5mm for Xmas (maybe late Xmas) as my wife told me I have to wait...
