2000 Disco 2 with 120,000 on the clock. On a trip about 2 hours from home and stop at a store, get out turn off truck and will not start when I return. After a few tries of various things that did not work it starts after a 5 seconds of turning the enigine over. Drive to motel, turn off truck and wont start again. Wait 20 mintues and starts after 5 seconds of turning engine over. Runs fine after starts and this is the first starting problem it has had since owned in a year. Only thing different is that changed the oil yesterday. Crank sensor? Fuel pump? Any help would be appreciated I am stranded and face a tow bill of over 3 bills. HELP please!!!

It turns over but does not really sound like it wants to start. when it did start sounded like it was starving for fuel then started right up and ran fine. Funny almost sounds like no spark but acts like a fuel problem. Thanks a bunch!

Just an update. All okay and back home. Had to go to the Land rover dealer about 25 miles north, got a crank sensor. 93.00 bucks. Stopped at advance and got a 1/4 stubby ratchet ( had the 7mm socket). Came back ate a big steak and a cold one. Laid under the rover with towels from the hotel room at 10pm with another cold one. Got a little greasy on my mini vacation. Changed the crank sensor in about 30 minutes. Let it run for about 45 minutes while having another cold one. all good. drove the family back home 150 miles with no problems. PRICELESS!! Thanks to everyone for the help!!!!!

Congrats. Nice to hear a happy ending.

BTW - I like the way you do your wrenching work. I'll have to try the steak and beer method next time.
