Omega day date month, wear it every day :)

If you want a cheap watch, just look at ebay. You can get a nice auto 3510 for something around 800 or less.

Great thread. I shopped around for a long while looking at Rolex, Omega, and settled on a T&C Mark T-57. I like it and it's constantly a conversation piece because they're not "popular."

...and if anyone is looking for a kick-ass, fairly inexpensive watch, try the 5.11 HRT Titanium Watch...it's bombproof.

So I started this thread like two years ago and guess what? I never bought the Omega.

I've been off Dweb for ages, but a problem with my Disco brought me back today (problem solved, BTW).

Anyway,
I'm getting a Planet Ocean 45.5mm for Xmas (maybe late Xmas) as my wife told me I have to wait for a particular deal to close. I have narrowed it down to a couple authorized dealers on the East Coast who will give discounts in the 30-33% range.

lucasd2002 - in your Xmas budget, for a new watch, I'd check out Zeno. I don't have one myself but I have spoke with several watch fanatics who absolutely love them.

Several to be had in your price range.

Best of luck.

bringing it back again...

Dan, did you get your Omega?

My wife only has $400-600 to spend on a watch for me for xmas. May be a lost cause but I would like to find a quality watch if I can. I have no problem with a used or even a vintage piece (as long as someone can service it) but I am no expert in this field. In addition to standard Omega and Rolex, I like Sinn, B&R but they are hard to find, esp in this price range. My dad has had great luck with Tags as long as I can remember so I could go there (yes, I understand some people's aversion).

Maybe Baume & Mercier...

My only real requirement is that I want to find something that actually has a s/n and can be legitimately serviced.

For budget considerations, a Tag F1 might be OK (I know it's bottom of the barrel but I do like the version with the white dial).

Is a site like timezone my best bet?

I ended up getting a second-hand German-made watch. The company is Limes (LEEM-ESS). I am really digging it so far.
