ok i must say i got a new CD two weeks ago and I am just now having it settle in.

Since I've moved to the Southwest I find I'm listening less to Jerry Garcia and GD and my bong is getting used much less. The peyote here has def. changed my taste in music...

I prefer to turn the recorded music off when camping. I always bring my dreadnought guitar with me. When you make your own music, you can still hear the sounds of nature, the campfire, and your friends. I'll sing some Todd Snider, Rodney Carrington (if we're all adults), Jed and Kelley, Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, Larry Joe Taylor, James McMurtry, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr (I love playing "Dinorsaur"), Mike Graham, Robert Earl Keen, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, The Samples, Max Stalling, Bob Marley, and (if I'm drunk enough to do it right) Ed Burleson...

If there are other singers and/or pickers in the group, all the more fun!

All i can say is thank god i live here, i prefer the sounds of the bush and the bush TV (fire) and conversation with friends, along with a few beers, can't beat it.

Probably why we go to remote areas to get away from you guys.

It's a thread revival!

At the rally, one of you guys mentioned a singer/songwriter who likes to tell stories. You said that I'd like him, so I'm going to pick up some of his stuff...but who was it?

This last time I went camping, I had to listen to mariachi music blaring through the woods from another campsite. I kicked myself for not bringing the potato launcher :(

I would like to add in some Disturbed, Mudvane, Pantera, Spine Shank, and sometimes Kittie. Really I like most anything heavy metal style. I prefer to listen to music mostly while wheelin. Chillin by the fire is a time for the sounds of the wild.....unless it is with a bunch of friends and beer, and then it is back to metal.
I would also like to add The Autumn Offering, Dope, In Flames, Sevendust, Arch enemy, Dream Theater, Pantera and of course Willie Nelson. I listen to that stuff while I drive, but while camping i listen to the campfire/stream.

Nice! I listen to Hard Attack on Sirius all the way until I leave the pavement.

sometimes the comedy channels on either sattelite radio are good for the campsite
