Yeah, well if you have not heard, they are coming out with OM II. I just saw them in concert in October. They did the whole Operation Mindcrime set to promote Operation Mindcrime II.

They Rock!

And yes, I like all sorts of music. I'm also a huge Sade fan. Hows that for opposites?

Camping Music

This is a good one. It would definitely depend on my mood and where I was camping.
If I was camping in a park camp with lots of people around then it would be more rockier - like Dave Matthews, Procol Harum, Bob Marley, Graham Parker and the like.
If I am really out in the wilderness, no one else is around, the view is beautiful and the weather is nice, then some red wine or scotch and Gustavo Santaollao - CD is Ron Rocco, Loreena McKennit, Best of Opera CD. Major relaxing.
Also some good conversation with friends - NO POLITICS! Just good old bulls**t and lots of laughs.

What's up with the southern vibe from a guy in PA?

Nice. I like Son Volt too, didn't realize they were popular enough to be heard in Yankeeville.

born and raised in St. Louis. Son Volt started just across the river. but then again i really did not develope my taste for them until i moved to Vermont. Wilco played a few times up there and i have seen them in Philly as well. lots of good alt stations play all those tunes plenty around here. seen Steve Earle plenty in VT and PA as well.
first saw Buddy Miller in Philly at the old Sam Adams Brewery with about 10 people in the room. was pretty amazing.

For this entire weekend camping trip; it was the Lucy channel on XM. Good stuff.

Yeah XM is awesome -- out here you always lose any decent radio once you get into the mountains, I'm sure it's the same everywhere. I've never lost my XM signal ! I stay tuned to the classic rock station. Every once in awhile I will admit to turning on the bluegrass station for some barefoot pickin' !

If it's insane hardcore camping... no music.
If it's real camping then the music is whatever I can pick up on an small arm-band style radio.
If it's fake camping I still like classic rock station on the radio and Fleetwood Mac always sounds good 'round the fire ring.

Being as the mrs is making me take the mother in law camping today - it will have to be either Crazy Train (Ozzy) or since she really can't stand them - Overkill (Motorhead) :D
