Top Secret 1st Pics of the 07 Defender

I think the NAS 110 have the vents but are non functional due to the roll cage bar that sits infront of them. My buddy has a NAS 110 and there are no handles for the vents on the inside. The outside I believe have black plastic where the vents are or should be.

OK, NAS 110s To My knowledge do not have vents. Keep in mind that ECR does big business in converting 90s to 110s.

Sven,

in some of the pics you can see the small handle that opens/closes the outside vent flap.

so yes, they have the vents.

OK, NAS 110s

PT,

this is the one interior pic that I mention above - you can see where to open the vent.

this one is a NAS 110.

The dash gauges are same as LR2 & LR3. The rest of the dash is styled along the lines of the currect production Defender. Hope the dash gauges are the only thing it shares.

NAS 110s do not have the levers for vents. Most of the ECR ones are converted to 97 or later spec AC and therefore get the handles installed to ahve functioning vents.

BTW the 110 2007 looks to have a V6 motor, maybe 2.7 diesel . . . maybe 4.0 V6 gas . . .

Your friend is going to get himself fired!

Every time I talk to someone at the dealership who would know, and every time I see any info online, the year '08 comes back as the year the Defender will be back in the U.S.. This is obviously a new design to the old Defender styling, and the '08 timeline would make sense. This is the best bet so far that all the talk is actually going to be reality.

After all, how long can LR ignore the fact that the Cruiser is selling, the H3, H2, G-Wagon, Jeep Wrangler, and all those other "real" off-roaders are making a profit! Building the Defeneder seems like such a no-brainer to me. There is minimal overhead for LR, they could continue to produce Defenders indefinately without loosing money; they can tweak the output to fit the market on a yearly -- half yearly -- basis, they can export the cars, or just the parts for building by a 3rd party. So... LR... What's the problem?

The NAS 110 I drove as a company car in PDX did not have the vents.

PT- We have to take the DII in -- the floor vents are dripping hot water onto my wife's feet (I told her to sit in the jump seats, but she thought that it would be better to just get it repaired). It actually burned her foot.

Should I tell them I was reffered to them by you? ;):smilelol:

Please do. Demand that Pedro be your service advisor (make sure you give him a horrible CSI report-he deserves it!). Have Dennis Simensen work on it, or Rick Pope. They are about the best there. If they aren't available, Dave Berry is really good too (he has more manufacturer certifications than you can imagine for British cars).

That's good to know, you think they would actually listen to me if I specifically requested a particular mechanic?

So far, we've called them twice today and they are not even answering the phone, and not calling back -- typical.

well i like the interior, all thiungs must pass and if thats what an airbagged defender interior looks like than thats okay.

its the suspension that has me worried now. I honestly think land rover knows better than to fuck with what aint broken in this department. They tweak the interior give it some airbacks and ship over to the good old USA for a few years with the LR# motor in it so the techs don't have to learn anything different.

Pedro's cell number is 503-849-2916.

Demand that one of the techs I suggested do it, or better yet, have San do it. Pedro hates him!

Judging by the tach and the hood bulge it's either the V-6 or the V-8 in gasoline, and the wheels use the same old bolt pattern from DI/RRC so that more than likely means it's an identical suspension to previous defenders. The exterior shot shows a LHD, but the interior doesn't show a passenger side airbag, but it's location would be pretty obvious. Just have to wait and see.

I'll give it a 25% chance it comes here overpriced and luxed out, 5% it comes over at around it's UK starting price of under $30k, and a 70% chance that the rest of the world gets to play, just not us. After all, think of how much work has to be done to rework a what is essentially a series Land Rover bulkhead to meet safety requirments.

Hmm.....I wonder how long it will be before LR gets huffy at these shots and asks to have them removed. They did that for the LR2 on another site.

Oh Phil, sell your rig already...

I dig it. The exterior/suspension looks largely unmolested as opposed to the frankenstein Bronco concept and the dash is not so bad. I'll take the bulge in the pants hood if that's what we get. "If" is the key. I won't believe it until I can put a deposit on it.

As far as I know powertrain will be 2.4L TD from Transit and no gas engine is planned so far so I doubt it il make it to the US.

Perhaps the next Discovery due in 2011 will?

Don't get too excited. No V8 or tdi coming to the US, and I'm thinking this drawing looks a little Jeepy. I guess we should be glad that the badge will say "Defender," at least?
