Shit...maybe forgot something in the process. What is the "spacer" for the CKP? I don't remember seeing any parts come out besides the cover and the sensor.

it depends wher you are in rotation to get the measurment did you do it once only?
remember its a sensor so that means its looking for change so knowing that look at it this way its 36-1 so you need to be sure your not measureing the -1 spot and it can deatermine thier it a change in order for this to mean any thing

You did pretty well for a young african!

However, if the engine is static, the CkPS won't generate a signal as it needs a changing field at the sensing element..

You say that you have power to the coil but do you have spark when you try to start the truck?

Yup....no spark.

Why do I have the feeling it's something simple and stupid (besides the operator:cool: )

Just curious-did you have a chance to cycle the alarm? I had a GEMS D1 that wouldn't start after having run the battery way, way down, and after getting the battery up to snuff, I had to cycle the alarm to get everything to synch. BTW, that was a car that wouldn't crank.
Last week, had a DI with a faulty crank sensor- showed 65000 rpm on the Autologic!

If it were the alarm, I would expect to not have fuel pressure, nor cranking.

It is so damned difficult to do this without a diagnostic computer hooked up and giving us real info.

My D1 would crank okay, but not start, when it had alarm-related issues.

I had a no start issue that ended up bing the multifunction unit. pass side of engine bay between the fender and the charcoal canister small black box with 2 plugs on the bottom controls the fuel and the spark to the motor it looks like a sealed unit but water can get in to it. It did on mine and corroded the inside. you can pry it apart to see what it looks like inside?
