as far as capping goes what I have seen guys do so far kinda sucks.

the boat building industry uses extruded aluminum profiles to cap the top of both aluminum and fiberglass boats...I thing there are some good options that would look pretty good going that way.

Bring on the ideas Ive been having a hard time trying to decide what to do..

Straight up and down is actually the best way to mount them.. normally it doesnt happen though. Im going to put the bottoms closer to the wheels, and the tops a little more inward for stability..

DUDE you a ton better at paint then me! HAHA #1 is what I was going for..

If you look at most chop tops, they do a a pillar, B C and D, way to blocky for me.. Im going to do, a a pillar, b pillar, then go over the back seat and start dropping it down to the back, and doving it in like the body lines.. Thanks for posting those ideas!

yeah that's what I was thinking. Over the rear doors, sloping it back down over the rear seat, then dropping right behind the tail lights. It's gonna look bad ass!

No weight in the back, things get scary down hill.. plus isnt the dove tail cool! i like it, its never been done before, and It gonna be nice not pounding my quarters on stuff..

Don't get me wrong, I like what your doing and it does look good but I would much rather get rid of the extra in the back possibly even giving you more departure angle.

Lane's right. I cut my frame right behind the front seats and rebuilt the back with tube. there's not much back there--a couple of pieces of tube, the battery and the fuel cell, that's about all. Over 90 degree departure angle. climbs great. Going down really steep stuff is more than spooky. its downright dangerous.

Now I pretty much have to give the front the same treatment to balance the weight out. on the bright side it should weigh pretty close to 3000lbs when I'm done. should climb even better and go down stuff without causing heart attacks.

The only ones I've seen done that looked nice at all just had pieces of sheetmetal bent to cover the opening.

The only time I've seen it done really well is on Pike's Peak Rovers Orange RRC.

How about capping with sheet metal or aluminium? Do you know anybody with an English wheel that could round some nice caps? Then hit them with some red paint to match the rest of the truck.

Otherwise, as Peter said, teak would be nice.

Yeah that was one of my thoughts. .I think I have a nice cap design up my sleeve, should be pretty nice, ill post some pics when im done wiht them on saturday..

I can think of all kinds of cool designs for the caps... all you need are some 2 x 10 x 36 billet aluminum plates, a cnc mill and some money.
