Thanks for the knowledge. I have to bookmark this thread to come back to from time to time. Hopefully other folks will chime in with their camera experiences.

It's amazing how great composition changes when you squat down or get just a little elevation. You will never see a true professional photographer shoot from that level it is either at waist level or an apple box higher.)

During the "pepsi challenge" I thought the D70s was a very nice camera. The three main reasons I chose the 20D was" 2 additional MP, the menu display / menu control, and finally the feel. Yes it just felt good
On another note Ben, I grew up about 1.5 hours north of you in a little town called Chehalis. Next time I go home to see the parents, we should hook up for a beverage.
I don't know what it is, but the the camera is turning out to be a lot like the Rover. I get a lot of dirty looks driving around in Portland with the Rover.
Do let me know if you ever come this way. Don't you work for Boeing or something?

Although they are not featured in his website (probably because they are now the property of the AP) Jim won two Pulizers last year for his photography in Iraq, both photos featured my brother in the fighting in Najaf, Iraq. Any of the photos that are labeled Najaf or Falluja are of my brother's platoon, in which he was a Squad leader and Platoon Sgt.
He has been shooting film for a long time. When he went to Iraq the AP gave him a 20D and some other Canon. But, in his own words, he had his personal equipment, a D70 and a D2h sent out to him after Najaf because they are, "more intuitive, and easier to use on the fly."
Which doesn't actually say much, since that is a pretty subjective judgement. But hey, he used both!!

That Pelican case is cool for storage of your gear, but is NOT feasible for when you are actually using your gear. You need a good camera bag...my favorite for professionals are Domke...they are the best bar none.
Damn, and you said I had some gourmet shit? LOL I've got freeze dried Tasters Choice and you bring out this gourmet shit.
Awww...you did good grasshoppaa

V22Guy said:When I purchased that 1524, I was thinking strictly on the basis of storage and transport in the Pig. I like that bag you linked, but what about in the outdoors? In my mind, a back-pack type set-up would be great for hiking / climbing over stuff. Last year at Moab, I was trying to carry a camera while climbing up some rocks to get pictures. One wrong move and that camera is in pieces
