    Jetta TDI

Marc, congrats on the TDI! I didn't know you got that. I too have the TB tools and just did my second timing belt job (at 185,000 miles). Great cars!

    Jetta TDI

Yes, it is pricey if you go through the dealer to have it done. Most of us on here could do it ourselves though, from what I understand, it's just a more-difficult-than-normal fluid change. The early DSG's that used wet clutches were the expensive ones, I think the more recent dry-clutch style...

Great point about the resale value. Much higher.

    Jetta TDI

I can only speak to my experience in my neighborhood. At a local station, diesel is $3.51 and regular unleaded is $3.25. If you drive 10,000 miles per year in a 2003 Jetta TDI (mine at 45 mpg avg) vs. a 2003 Jetta gas version (24mpg combined according to the fueleconomy.gov) you'd be looking at...

    Jetta TDI

Just a clarification on the EGR adjustment... the ECU setting basically turns the EGR off (puts it on an extremely low setting) and is actually illegal in certain states. Depending where you live, if you want to turn off the EGR, you may have to turn it back on to pass inspection. If you have a...

    Jetta TDI

Just checked this out as my brother (teledan) mentioned this thread. I have a 2003 TDI Jetta with 200k on the clock and it still runs amazing. Always put high quality, full synthetic oil in it that matches the recommended specifications and you won't have any problems in that regard. I perform...

    transfer case interchange

Yes, this is how T-cases go out. For reference, I put a T-case from an automatic rover (D1) into a manual truck (D-90) and the only modification that I needed was to remove the shift lock solenoid. I assume that it wouldn't work the other way because the manual t-case won't have a place for a...

    7100 and shock tower trick?

Yeah, I thought I'd try something new with it, since I'm on my side so much anyway I figured it would probably work better this way, lol. ;) :banghead:

D-90 alloy wheel set and some individual ones too

Sorry guys, try the links now. I just copied them over from my d-90.com post and it had already truncated the URL's. They work now.

    D-90 Parts!

One full set of stock D-90 springs from a 1994 D-90 ST. $50 takes the lot of them. Stock rear trailing links from a 1994 D-90. Taken off the truck with 83,000 miles. They are in good shape and not bent. $60 Factory Side Steps. Missing outer plastic cover over the bar (see pic), but...

D-90 alloy wheel set and some individual ones too

I have one set of 5 OEM D-90 wheels with all center caps and lug nuts that I want to sell as a set. I'll take $325 for the set. The first picture is of all five and the subsequent pics of this set are inidividual pics of the same 5 wheels so you can see the condition they are in...

    Shop sharing...?

I've wondered this too, and I wish it existed. It would be nice to start something like this up and charge some sort of membership fee. Of course you would run into problems with liability... Wish I could tell you that I knew of one.

    Volvo Portal Axles 4,000

As was said before, you may want to try Pirate 4x4 or d-90.com, they might be more likely to sell in one of those two places.

    7100 and shock tower trick?

Not a bad suggestion, but for me the practically bolt on D2 towers were easier, so I stuck with that. I may change in the future, because it would make things easier.

    Longer front shock tower

I don't know if this would work, but it seems like it would... can you just make a spacer to put between the frame and the tower? It might be too flimsy, but it's just a thought.

    7100 and shock tower trick?

Rather than clamping mine, I just modified them slightly by grinding out a little excess metal. I didn't even think of clamping them, but I guess that would work too. The place where i ground it out is a little hard to see in the pic, but if you have the shock and the tower in your hands, just...

WaSaTcH RoVeRs forest lake cleanup W BLM!

Yeah, definitely not a stocker trail, I was up there earlier this year and it was fairly bad then. Beautiful views though, that's for sure. That whole area is nice and there are lots of roads to take and try out too. PS, marc if you are still interested in my frame, email me!

WaSaTcH RoVeRs forest lake cleanup W BLM!

Shoot, sorry I missed this. I don't check the disco boards here often, and I was just a couple of days late. That would have been a fun trip! Gotta love forest lake.
