Hi,
I am looking for an ignition switch for a 1999 D1. I was wondering if you had one, (with the key please) and how much to ship to New York, zip = 11228.
Thanks,
Brian
I'll hit a local locksmith. I have way too many keys right now (I have some rental property). I really do not want a second key.
If I need a lock assembly, I will keep you in mind.
Thanks.
Has anyone had their ignition rebuilt? I am looking for a place in New York City, preferably Brooklyn.
I had an issue with my ignition key not turning. I have removed the assembly and want to get it rebuilt to use the same key.
Thanks is advance
All,
I've searched; but, any serach related to keys and ignition seems to return the stuck key issue.
I went out to the Disco this morning and the ignition key would not turn. I was hoping someone would be able to give me a starting point for diagnosis. I checked that the truck was in park...
While I am comfortable on working on my own vehicles, PT has sent a few pearls of Disco wisdom my way. Sometimes, I did not even have to ask, I just had to searched his post in a thread with a similar problem to mine.
Crown, sent you a PM.
I thought that stock coolers would still be expensive used. I wish I knew you guys were selling them for scrap.
If I can source a good used one cheap, I will replace with OEM. They are $300 new.

Hello,
I have a 1999 D1 that has a pin hole in the tranny cooler. I have hit it with PB Blaster for 2 days and it seems that the fittings are frozen on. Rather than spend my weekend trying not to destroy the cooler while removing the lines, I am considering using an aftermarket cooler.
I have...
This falls under section 179 in the tax law. The basics are a vehicle over 6,000lbs will qualify for a tax benefit. Essentially, you expense the first $25,000 and depreciate the rest over 5 years.
Basically if your LR4 costs $55,000 you would expense $25,000 the first year and depreciate the...
Thanks for the feedback. I work on everything I own, if a man made it, I can usually fix it. Even the D1 has a few electronics that can leave you dead on the road. I know that the LR4 has many times the number of electrionics; but, technology has come a long way in 12 years.
The truck will...
I am considering buying a new Rover. I am currently driving a 99 D1 that I have had since 2001. I am looking at the usual replacements, a LR4, a Land Cruiser or ???
Is there anything I need to know about the LR4? Anyything good or bad? I like the way the truck looks and will probably go to...
From drag race car experience, a full 10 point cage (not just a roll bar) can cost over $1000 in chrome moly. A mild steel cage will be just a little cheaper. You will need to use 1 3/4 or 1 5/8 tubing. Since most places will not be familiar with the Disco, you many be looking at even more...
Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting an Innova 3100. I chose this one because it would work on both the Disco and my Volvo. I tried it out and I am happy with it.
Andrew, you have a good point. I did take a look around before I borrowed the code reader. I started with the simple and tried to see if I saw anything. I think that the truck does not like to sit for a week or 10 days at a time. Once I start to drive the truck for a few days, the code goes...
I get an occasional check engine light on my 99 D1. I pulled the code and the only code is P0138. The question now is which O2 sensor is bad. At $100 each, I do not want to replace them all. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
On a long distanc tow, I would limit it to about 3000 lbs. My D1 with an open trailer and a car (about 3500) is ok on long trips. Taking the enclosed trailer and the car about 5000lbs, is a LOT more work. Also the D1 and D2 do not have a very long wheel base. So they are a lot more nervous...
Well, after 71,xxx miles, my power steering box started leaking. I called Meridian yesterday and had a box this morning. All I can say is they did EXACTLY what they said they would. Next day shipping was a little pricey; but, fair for a 40 lb part (including core rerutn).
The pump is working...
