LR3 prices going up?

Looked at purchasing an 05 LR3 HSE-7 last month. It had 44K on it, rear seat package, HD package, Cold Climate, rack, brush bar, ladder, really clean truck. Certified from the LR dealer and they were asking $21,450. They sold the car but now have another 05 HSE, same equipment but none of the "kit", also certified with 48K, and they are asking $23,450.

When I asked why the price increase, the salesman told me that demand is increasing. Sounds crazy to me since the 09's are out now, it should be cheaper right?

Any pricing advice from those who work at Land Rover dealers?

Interesting since I got an email yesterday from my dealer that they were selling brand new 08s for 36k.

I would shop around this is the first I heard of going up.

Just the opposite, prices have been falling, like over the edge, and you shouldn't have to pay anything over 20K for an '05.

Ditto on 36K for some '08 models

Actually the LR3's have gone up in value even though this never happens. 6 months ago the auctions were flooded by off lease lr3's. They had parking lots full of them that would not sell so the prices kept falling on them week to week until they were gone. Now that the market has dried up on them they are harder to find at auction and the nice ones with good miles are selling for out of the book (black book). 6 months ago clean book on an 05 lr3 se v8 was 16k now clean book is 16,5. I cannot even remember the last time I have seen this happen.

Allow me to place my 2 cents I do live this everyday

ALL DEALERS have a what is called a floor plan ( finance their inventory ) and like with anything else they have curtailments and payoffs.

3-4 months ago they were sellin g NOTHING but needed to pay for not only their dead service but their floorplan as well so instead of taking the inventory to auction and get killed , they were giving them away at Retail.

Now since the holidays there is a false sence of business change ( BULLSHIT ) however as Dealer need to add inventory, prices are back to where they belong and not freebies as 4 mo ago.

The Black Book is a nice book but MMR is the benchmark.

One example my 06 E350 4Matic with 30k Panorama Roof Nav 4 months ago Rough Book was 23500 well noone would paid more than 20000, 2 weeks ago sold almost for 24000

However 2 weeks ago and 05 LR3 HSE Black with 50k sold at auction for 16,000

20K for an 05 SE with cold weather, lighting, new A/T tires, brakes, and 60K service. LR extended to 75. Two weeks ago...

Fair price and great dealer. Albuquerque/Santa Fe LR are great. Issue came up after purchase and they are taking care of it even though warranty will not. I love it!

My daughter is very happy with the rear seat seat warmers and the ease of entry. The lifted D2 was a bit much for an eight year old and the grandma. Now... access height...

Anyone have plans for sliders that I can build?

I paid 24k for a 06 HSE7 w/ HD package [rear locker/full size spare], in the color I wanted (Bonatti Grey) .. also CPO'd to 75k ... I paid an additional ~2k on that for 100k extended warranty... While I've seen some cheaper, I still think it was a decent deal considering it was *exactly* what I was looking for, and purchased less than 5 miles from my house..

You have several LR dealers not too far from you:
Greenville SC, Fletcher NC (related though I think)
Raleigh, NC (Leith)
Greensboro, NC (Flow)
Charlotte, NC (Hendrick)
Atlanta of course

and Jacob on this forum works at the Roanoke, VA dealer - sounded very good to deal with.
...etc.

You need to start digging more, at the very least to find the build you want and pricing too.

Do NOT get one out of warranty or without 6/75 at least.

Yeah the warranty is a must, it seems to be hard to find a certified HSE though.

The dealers in my area (Greenville, Columbia, Asheville) are all the same network. The Atlanta and NC dealers have nice trucks, no HSE's though.

I really like the truck I'm looking at, but I just don't think 23.5K is that great of a deal. They are giving me "good" value on my trade, and not budging on the asking price of the LR3. This would be my 4th Land Rover from them...I guess I feel there should be some loyalty incentive.

Let the people here help a little more - what's your trade?

You do know trade is not the way to get the most from your current vehicle I assume and the tax offset shouldn't matter much unless your trade is valued near the lr3 purchase amount.

4 ?! Yeah, there ought to be a little better deal, like sticking to under $20k for an 05. What's the mileage though, low? I've seen low miles bring price up a couple $k.

You might also not know but the one with the "kit" would have sold for less because it had a narrower market of people. The one with nothing is sort of worth more to them because any mom or punk kid will like it, not just the guy wants the crappy oem rack (it's not so good) and the ladder (totally fine) or brush bar (useless crap). Also, the locking rear diff is not all that amazing on these, it's not like an arb locking diff ....

on your trade, they are likely "robbing peter to pay paul" and making your trade look ok by asking too much on the lr3.

I'm thinking I'm just going to get one from a non-LR dealer and then buy an extended warranty. It looks like this way I'll be able to keep under my $20,000 target.

Make sure the extended warranty you buy covers what you need it to... my friend couldn't find an extended warranty on his 06 RR Supercharged that covered all of the stereo equipment/nav ... which if breaks, is very costly to fix.

The truck I'm looking at now has 33K on it, with an in-service of 6/28/05. I think that it would qualify for the LR Assured/EasyCare plan, at least according to this link:

http://http://jimeast.com/Files/Land%20Rover%20Assured%20and%20Certified%20Program%20Guidelines.pdf

I'm going to try and call LR Greenville tomorrow and see if I can get the most up to date plan details.

My old Range Rover had the LR Assured warranty and it covered everything except wear and tear, it seemed to be a good plan.
