Dang, I got a warm fuzzy reading this... I made it home just fine. How do I explain this? I don't think anything was damaged on my truck. I checked it out yesterday; engaged all gears, in reverse and drive; EVERYTHING works. I do need an alingment or something, christ it wobbles bad now. Anyway, I saw the pic (21027) of me "pulling" Mark (green LC) down the hill; I don't know why he was so scared to go down? :D

I can't say enough about the help I got from Robert, Mark, and the guys in the other Cruiser who hooked everything up. Nice rigs guys.

We definitely need to go back when dry-er. I still had a great time and met some pretty cool people.:bigok:

I meant to ask you, did you buy or make that saudi grille? It looks sharp!

OH snap! busted. Damn photographers...That grille was there when I bought it. I like it too. And yes, I have all gears. I dunno what happened but I do know nothing I did on that hill made a difference.

Leave no man behind! I was 2 hours late getting back to my obligations, but there was no way I was leaving until you and Matt (4Runner) were heading out. Once that became obvious, I bolted.
You know, I was standing right beside your rig when it "popped" and the first thing out of my mouth was "oh that was nothing". I've heard snaps, cracks, clunks, bangs. it sounded to me like it was a mere linkage popping out, like coming out of gear. Hopefully that really was just what it was!

alright, got my editing software in, uploaded the video tonight (about 25 min worth) and I'm going to play around with music, and editing, etc. this weekend. Does anyone know how to upload a video or should I post it on youtube, google, etc and just send a link? I am totally illiterate with this stuff.

I just found this thread. You can count me in for future rides if given enough prior notice.

I've been out to Helena a few times, they are building a road right through the middle of one of the trails we ride. Houses won't be far behind. A couple of the guys I work with went out behind the Shelby County Airport a few weeks ago and said there are some decent trails back there. They are planning to ride back there again Sunday afternoon. I am supposed to work 6A to 6P that day but I'm probably going to take off early and go with them if your interested. It will probably be around 1Pm Sunday. I will be the only Rover the others are two Jeeps and two 80's 4runners. They are all pretty much stock so it shouldn't be too hard of a trail and I'm not sure how long it is but it is no more than an hour or hour and a half at the most I believe.

Several of us are in Birmingham - just 2 hours away from you. We will have to get together again soon. Good Luck on the move!

We basically followed the ridge line road south out of Cheaha State Park - it's Alabama FS road 600 - look it up on a map of the Talladega National Forest. You can run about thirty miles of dirt road along the ridge with scenic views off either side. Its an easy ride with only minimal off-road skills required - good "Bunny Ride" as we call it. There are some side roads we want to go back and explore when we don't have as many trucks along.

I'd like to know more of this FS 600 road. Some of us are heading to Cheaha SP this weekend and since this is a camp trip and not a wheeling trip, we want to do about an hours worth of fire road riding. Is FS 600 called the Scenic Byway or Talladega Mtwy? I thought the mtwy was paved. I've looked for a map of the FS roads and can't find one online, any help with a map? Somebody got one?
Planning on a calm ride with maybe a few obstacles, is this possible in the Forrest without actually having to go to MMORV?
