Dmarchand,

That's b/c there is no modified watts linkage on the truck. It was replaced with a pan hard rod.

dude how can you put a front steering piece on a the rear where a suspension piece is suppossed to go, I am 18 and I even know what the difference between the two are...I think someone with these big 37" irocs has a little obsession with there "rod" if you ask me....compensating if you will...???maybe

Peter, perhaps you should find out some more concrete information on the truck you're trying to sell...

First off, if this is the 'bushviper' truck, it was said in the past that it has a 'modified watts linkage' ... which from the pics you can see the arms from the watts linkage still, so I don't know how you replaced it with a steering part... but anyways, find out what modification was done, were the arms bent like the RTE ones? was it just notched out?

Also, HD front axle shafts, no one currently sells these for the D2... Ashcroft is coming out with them soon.. but nothing available yet.. so are these custom made, or do you not have them?

If you are unsure about some of these, such as the watts linkage, take a few pics and post it here.. watts linkage is in the back of the truck by the gas tank..

Rmuller,

The "watts linkage" was replaced with a pan hard rod to allow the rear to drop. Brackets were made so the pan hard rod could be mounted. I know what the difference between a watts linkage and pan hard rod is. Yes the front axle shafts were custom made. Here is a picture of the rear pan hard rod.

Is something wrong with this truck? Just wondering since everyone is bashing it. Is there something I missed?

I think the bashing stems from discussions in the past.

Reason #1 to stay away (at least for me and many others) is above.

I personally don't like the color or the fact that it's sooo huge. The rear panhard set-up seems interesting to me though.

To each his/her own.

You can add a freaking CDL!!! Damn all I hear is 03 POS without a CDL and I'm sick of it.

I happen to own an 03 SE7 with 245/75R16 BFG AT KO tires on it and it can go many places other stock 4x4's can't and I don't have a CDL. CDL is great, but it also depends on the drivers skill level. You can put an 18 year old kid in a modified D90 and watch him get stuck in 5 minutes or you can put a veteran off-roader in a 2wd pickup and watch him go right by the stuck 18 year old laughing his (_!_) off!

If you want to call a LR a mall cruiser that's fine, but I'd look at the Freelander, LR3, Range Rover Sport, or Range Rover for god sake. Anything after 04 IMHO from LR is a mall cruiser.

To each his own, but I wouldn't be bitching about that 03 Discovery. I'd buy it slap in CDL and hit the trails. I also like that color if it has a black interior.

I think the main beef with this truck isn't so much the CDL as the broader perception that it may have been hacked together to look big and tough instead of designed to actually tackle trails. Lack of CDL is just one red flag pointing toward this conclusion. Lack of a winch (seriously, no winch after all that effort?!) would be another. Not to mention the possibility of that stock driveline tearing itself apart trying to turn those big jeep wheels/tires.

Bottom line, it still needs some work before it will be worth the ebay auction's starting bid. As it sits, I would say it is worth significantly less than a bone stock '03.

"Slap in"? That is not how I would desribe the project.

LOL. Absolutely. Yes the job is not technically difficult, but it is still a PITA. For example:

#1 Source a T-case with nipple

#2 Source CDL Linkage

#3 Remove old T-case, install new t-case

#4 Remove center console. Remove 11 or so rivets holding tunnel cover in place.

#5 Install Linkage.

#6 Rivet your tunnel cover back on. Install center console.

#7 Crack a Schiltz and pat yourself on the back :)

The harrassment of this listing stems from past activities from the seller and the description of said name vehicle.

You might want to take the "all the bells and whistles" line out of the ad considering how much the truck is missing to properly run those 37"s for real wheeling other than bunny trails.

On a positive note, list it on AutoTrader.. I'm sure it would move fast and most buyers there have no idea what they are looking at.

Oh come on. I'm going to "slap in" an LT230 in the UPS truck. Next, I'll "slap in" a front TT and HD axles and CV's. Some day I'll "slap in" a 4.6 as well.

Many vehicles run a panhard rod on the rear. Just look at an old Ford Mustang.

The question I have is how is that an advantage over the Watt's linkage? It's not!
