    d2 tranny slow to move

I had this same problem with my old 3 series bmw, and it did it for years and never stopped when i sold it. Up to this day it is still on the road and the tranny is fine. What a mech guy told me was that he believed the torque converter of itself was on its way out. Not sure if this can...

Are Bilstein shocks really stiff on a DII? Old Man Emu better ride?

Our opinions on that differ. The ride feels very smooth to me. And the roads where i live suck. I have had Bilsteins on my old bmw 3 series. Good quality but they were too stiff for my liking. But this is a different application. So not sure if it is fair to compare.

Are Bilstein shocks really stiff on a DII? Old Man Emu better ride?

Go Terrafirma. They are made for Land Rover and arguably better quality than ome. I have their all terrains on my d1 and they are excellent.... not to mention ver affordable. My mate has the big bore versions on his Td5 and the ride is nothing short of spectacular for a defender which does...

    Replacing Plugs and Wires

Not meaning to thread hi jack, but i want to do the same thing. I would like to know if the Kingsbourne wires would be a direct fit for a RHD D2 v8. My other option is Magnecore wires, which i hear are good but are way too pricey.

    Settle a debate please

Mine does not have coolant level sensor.

    Settle a debate please

That guy is more or less right. There are quite a few more sensors and what not on American spec vehicles. I first noticed it when i had my old 3 series bmw. On the forums, I kept seeing all these little issues with sensors that i noticed i never had. However those sensors can be life savers.

Once again... I am not in the Us market. Don't have a Gems either. Should have made myself clear hence the mix up. Where i am Lpg is half the cost of petrol.... CNG is half the cost of Lpg. I chose lpg because the initial cost is much cheaper and the hassle is way less for right now. Later...

I know the logistics. I should have said what would financially equate to 36-40 mpg. And you can still maintain the same fuel mpg as petrol if you tune your vehicle for the optimum. I've done my research. No need to be a petrol slave.

For further fuel efficiency I am also attempting an lpg conversion of my truck like the Brits using one of their kits. Will be getting an approximate 36-40 mpg per gallon when that is done. Then i can keep my Rover forever.

With the above kit you have the option of a high torque cam, or for a racer type cams but which will only work well with head work.

Had mine done, did none myself. But from my experience and from accounts of others, it makes the vehicle a much more fun ride. And your maths is way of with the 45 hp gain. At around 190hp stock you gain about 20-30 hp with that mod, with 22-24 being the avg gains. If you are going to have...

Some things can be done but they will be a bit costly. I would recommend a plug wire change to 8mm and a quality brand (Magnecore or Kingsbourne etc). If pollution laws are not strict where you are decat it, or get a highflow cat. A high torque cam replacement is an excellent bet as well...

    A/C Evaporator

Anyone have a clue if the AC evaporator from one of the NAS lhd D1's will fit into RHD D1? Secondly my engine is the 300tdi and i know you guys don't have that, will that make a difference A/C wise?

    Bye bye T-stat ?

I live in the tropics. Every mechanic that i have been to here advocates removing the t stat cause it just ends up being problematic and without it the engine runs fine. My last vehicle was a 90's 3 series bmw. Drover 3 yrs with out thermostat no issues. It never used to hit the middle mark...

    Projector headlights

i find that so hard to believe. Maybe the lights out here are just terrible in comparison to what u guys get but the D1 headlamps overall suck out here. The D2 headlights are a much better option if anything, but i was thinking of doing something different.
