Did you ever get to the root of the problem on this? I just had this issue same issue with high idle, etc. I had the adaptions reset along with base idle but it now lacks power. My only code is 1171 which is lean condition both banks. Going to get a new MAF and see if that helps per the shop...

I performed a 4.0 to 4.6 swap (gems) in my ‘97 D1 a few years back. It seems to run ok with a few gremlins popping up here and there. Is it better to reconfigure the ECU, or do they eventually adapt and optimize performance?
