Adjustable Panhard Rod

Well, I had an extra panhard rod laying around so I decided to do a little project. I bought a cheap Heim joint (I'll probably get a better one later), a jamb nut, a tube adapter and some high misalignment spacers ($40 total) to make the rod adjustable. First I made sort of a jig by welding two bolts to a piece of sheet:

Then I cut the end of the panhard rod:

Then I got some tubing and mocked it all up:

Then I welded it:

And then ground down my ugly welds:

Now I just need to paint it!

I am going to put this on my Disco and pull the stock one off and make another adjustable rod out of it. Anyway, just thought I would share!

Thanks guys. If anyone is interested, I used the heim, tube adapter, and high misalignment spacers from these guys:

The Heim itself doesn't look very high quality but it was cheap and it came with a jamb nut. I will probably replace it with a QA1 or a Midwest Control heim later. The tubing I used was 1.25 OD and .120 wall that I picked up at the local metal supplier.

Hmm... Well since there seems to be some interest in this I may offer this as a service. I will need to think about pricing. Just as a feeler, who all would be interested? It looks like four of you so far, anybody else?

For a second I thought I knew what your were talking about, but that last part threw me off. :D

Depending on the cost, and I don't have an extra panhard laying around to send you. If you had one for a core, I might be able to do that. Crappy paint is fine, it'll match the stuff I've bought form other LR fabricators.

Of course, how else would I do it? :) After all, this is discoweb.
