Ive got both. Tent cot and tent bed. No rain problems with the fly, easy to move and set up on top of rack or ground. Tent bed fits me and my two kids with no problem. Tent cot is used for solo runs very convenient.

Howboucha All!
Haven't posted in a while so I am tossing my hat in the ring to post a link of my roof tent.
http://www.redbirdsra.com/rooftent.htm I used it once at the AMA Superbike Races at Mid Ohio this summer. It worked great. I have fixed up a bit from what you see in the photos. The main downfall is that since the XD is slightly lifted and the tent weighs close to a hundred pounds, it's a bitch getting it up on the rack. The coolness factor is a 10!

BTW: Koby, I have had your roof tent photo on my computer as my screen backround for about 6 months now. I love it.

I've been looking for tent options for my Safety Devices Roof Rack on my 2000 D2. I've seen some of the Hannibal fold out products but since I don't have a Hannibal Rack I don't know about compatibility issues. Does anyone have a tent option on thier Safety Device Rack? Any friendly advice?

I'm getting ready to mount an Eezi-Awn tent, so I'll be pulling my SD rack off. The tent should be able to mount directly to the cage, but we'll see. Not sure exactly how I'll be doing this, want to get the current rack off first.

I have been using the TenCot for over two yars now and it is the best darned thing since peanut butter with nuts in it. I use it at least once a month and have slept at the beach in it, in the rather famous NC ice storm two years ago, and two other winter occasions, one during quite a storm on Old Bald at Caney fork, and it is amazing.
http://www.tentcot.com even sent us one for a prize at the last URE!.

They even make a double sized one that will work.
I like it most because if you set it up , you can leave off the roof until you are ready to hit the rack. This way you can still participate in that night drive.

... this is what it looks like installed. Mounts directly on the SD cage and needs no other support. It is cantilevered so that ladder is not required to support the tent, it is just for access. The jerry cans mounted in front provide protection from low branches, etc.

That EZ Awn hardshell is sweet. I have a hannibal 1.1 mounted on a Backpack rack. I can remove it easily because I use stainless wing nuts to hold it on.

Tent options and sizes

My tent requirements are simple - they have to fit me and two skinny chicks! :D

I use a Technitop and it works great in rain and even snow. It's easy to set up and the awnings and shower stall are WAY cheaper than the hannibal options. You can mount them all in the same manner. They have a poly shell with a double floor with airspace for added insulation instead of just slapping the mattress on a piece of plywood.

That Technitop looks pretty nice. How much do they run? The Eezi-Awn was a bit cheaper than Hannibal and didn't require a custom rack like Hannibal's do.
