Now now, let's not get into a match here. I saw the guy pretty drunk at dinner...saw his truck later rolled on the hill (I got to the top when it was being winched out of the trees--I did not see the actual roll) and I saw him the next morning and asked him about his truck. That's all. I don't claim to know everything but he did say to those of us who were talking to him the next morning that he'd had a little too much and was going too fast.

Edit: I seem to remember this was discussed before and I'm guessing he was a friend. Feel free to set me straight...I remember he was from NC and said his wife was going to be pissed...he had a gold D1...that's about all!

i drank on our run twice. thats right, i said it. we hit an obstacle with 10+ trucks that took well over an hour, after i made it over, you better believe i had a coldy while waiting for the rest. i was 4th in line, i helped stack and spot the first 3, the relievers helped me over and then i had a cold one whiule i waited, then others stepped in to help the remainder of the group. the second beer at lunch time with my sandwich.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think the debate about drinking on trail runs is always about excess. Your example of your personal intake is far from the examples of people chugging liquor or passing shots. I don't know if that really happened, but if I was on a trail with people who were getting shit faced, I wouldn't be happy. It's always that one group of people acting like idiots that ruin it...we all know trails and obstacles can take a while and I, personally, don't have a problem with someone having a beer while waiting or during a leisurely lunch. I just think that's different. Drinking so much that it clouds your judgement or impairs your ability to operate safely is another story.

But, I'm a 20-something so what do I know?
