Don't say Expedition Exchange because I'm looking for a Seamaster.

I thought I had a great deal on one through a friend-of-a-friend but it's not going to work. I have found a few deals online, but nothing overly compelling.

Hoping dweb has some good ideas.

TIA.

Were you in the Military? If you were check out AAFES, they have wicked good deals on watches. 15 years or so back, they had the Omega Speedmaster for 400 or 500. I think www.Pacifictime.com or something like that has them. Also try www.Ashford.com or their outlet. We have gotten a few watches from them and they have been great deals. Actual physical stories suck, so I wouldn't go there.

I have more info if you want some more.

Hey Chris -
I wasn't in the service, but my father-in-law was and I've been perusing AAFES the last day or two. They've got some pretty good deals. Wish I could get my hands on one at the old prices!

I'm not opposed to used either, but Ebay makes me nervous because of the chance of getting a fakie.

Oh, by the way Chris, I also will need a full size version of your avatar.

Thanks,
AB

$1000 for one? Not too bad? A few years ago I got my Tag (I am waiting for John Lee to come in and harrass me) and got about $1000 of retail. My dad got a Rolex GMT in 86 for $700 I think or around there. They have some of the best deals on their watch selection.

And sorry buddy no full size version of my Avatar, its not something that is too be shared, I thought maybe just tease ya'll a bit :). Amazingly I got an email today from a guy asking the same question.......

When I worked in downtown DC, there was a guy there near 14th and I street name T-Rok who sold those really cheap. He said they were real.

I can check with him and see what he has in stock if you like.

If you are going to get an Omega I would go to an actual dealer and get one. Check out your local jewlry stores and I'm sure that there is one that is near you that sells them. Ya, they cost more then the internet deals for a reason. The internet stores are going to sell you a discount "grey" market watch. Ya, you'll get a huge discount but, there is a price to pay for that discount. Most grey market Omegas have the serial numbers removed from the case. This causes you several issues.. First you can't get it insured, second, you can't get it repaired by Omega they will keep it if you send it to them ( well that's what I hear anyways ) becuase as far as they are concerned it was stolen. Which leads to the last part of that, for all you know it could be stolen. Not to mention if for some reason you end up on the wrong side of the law and they look at it and happen to notice that there is no serial number where there should be, you'll have some explaining to do and you'll probably never see it again. Plus, if they buffed the serial number off the case who's to say that they didn't switch out the guts with a different watch as well. I'd go to the store and pony up the dough..

Now having said that.. If you still want to get a "grey" market watch off the web then I would recomend World of Watches.com. They will be grey market and they will have the serial number buffed off but, at least it will be the real watch.

A couple years ago I was on a cruise of the Greek Islands that made a stop in Turkey for a day. I bought what had to be the most obviously fake Rolex ever made. In addition to not looking like any Rolex I have ever seen, you could see where the original logo on the face had been scratched off and the Rolex decal put on, and a decal saying something like "Oyster Perpetual Day Date" despite that it had the tick tock of a quartz movement instead of the smooth sweep of the second hand, and there was no day/date display at all. But, in the interest of having a souveneir of the trip I bought it for something like 3 bucks and wore it every day for a good 3 years until the battery died. I replaced it with a Skaagen (I think thats how you spell it) that cost something like $120 that turned out to be a total piece of crap. Fogged up when it got wet, and the second hand just randomly fell off one day. Moral of the story, I got no problem with fakies if the price is right.

That being said, as soon as I can afford one I am getting myself a Tag.

My Rolex sits in a drawer- got sick of everyone asking if it was fake... it's not.
I wear a watch made for HK in Germany that has a Swiss movement. Keeps great time and once in awhile people see that red HK logo and it makes for interesting conversation.
I had a nice Citizen flight watch, but I can't figure out all the buttons and stuff to change the time on it. I dig watches- I must have 15 or so. My fave is an original Gruen Curvex that I had restored.

I bet my $60.00 G-Shock keeps just as good time as anyother watch....And if it don't, I just adjust the time.

For work, I wear a 80.00 Seiko. It's been running for two years just fine, even with the welding slag stuck to the band....

Start haunting Costco. I've seen the occasional grey market Seamaster there. They give you a "Costco warranty" rather than factory Omega warranty.

Steve HK makes watches?? The HK? Or is this it: http://www.hkwatches.com.hk/

Nope- not Hong Kong... Heckler and Koch. I haven't seen one in a long time, but they used to give them out as corporate gifts etc. Extremely well made and resemble a Submariner but in a chrono style. I saw one pop up on ebay once for $200... a steal at that price.

First the USP, then the Mk23, and now the HK watch? Will the madness never end? Do you also have one of these?:

I agree with the eBay search.
Nice watches on there for good deals, if you have the time! :p

Consider the Breitling SuperOcean ... if you are not dead set on buying trash.

Speaking of trash, HK and RoverChic, a combination made in an Oklahoma trailerpark!

LOL ... God I can really out-do myself sometimes!
