Great looking trucks guys. I seem to be seeing more and more people interested in modding and wheeling P38's.

Here's a few pics from this years National Rally in Moab, Poison Spider and Golden Spike trails:

Oh man your rig is sweet... We have a 97 P38 we use off road also.. Nothing like that.. Sweet rig man.. I like what you have done with it!

I like the coopers, however I have not had them off-road yet. I am planning to go to Baja next year maybe even drive all the way to Cabo.

By the way were did you find the dash plastic trim that would fit your GPS?

Well after tons of work/upgrades on my 1999 P38, I finally got it off the pavement today. Since there isnt really a RR general discussion here, I'm just posting a few shots here.

I went through a water crossing a few feet deep and quickly realized that I need to get rid of the stupid K&N cone filter (installed by the previous owner). That thing soaked water up like a sponge and got the Mass Airflow sensor wet, caused the engine to run poorly and check engine line came on. I managed to pull the whole intake tubing off and dump all the water out and let it dry and I was good as new. I know that if I had the original filter box, that no water would have got in there. If any one has an extra original air filter box they want to sell please PM me. ;)

Hideous.

WTF is the deal with people slapping steelies on P38s?

Look at Alan's truck.
It's certainly very off-road-tuff, even a little big-dawg.
It's a very capable truck and it's hardly stealthy, but does he go low-brow with the steel?
Nope he keeps the alloys which are perfectly functional and look perfect.
The only reason to go steel is to try to look like a badass when you're not.
it's pathetic.

Believe me, I don't particularily like the look of steelies over alloys myself, even though I use steelies. But I use them because it was my understanding that some tire sizes require a 7" rim width. Are you saying the extra 1" from an 8" wide alloy wheel won't cause any problems with these tires?

for real? you just called the guy a posuer for having fucking steelies? take this absurd amount of free time you have to scour discoweb and trash talk people for having different wheels.. and go fucking wheelin.. maybe he wanted black rims and didn't feel like powder coating his.. or he gotta good deal on steelies and said fuck it.. i dunno why a steel rim implys low brow.. infact i don't know why his trucks any different then any other fucking truck with steel rims.. and there's a ton of them here.. so you should go back a few years and post your commentary to every fucking truck owner with steelies.. because they suck and your not bad ass with steelies..

get over it guy

I put steelies on my P38 because:

A: I wanted an offset to help with pulling a 24' boat from time to time (without investing in expensive aluminum spacers)
B: My P38 came with these VERY ugly 18" wheels
C: I wanted a 16" wheel so tires are cheaper and I can change them without slamming my pocket book so hard.

PS - I will remain calm and collected and will not bash your ride nor attempt any insults.

I had it custom made at a stereo shop. They did a pretty good job matching it up, I could have done a better job myself if I had the time. Its actually comprised of the factory plastics, MDF and this rubbery texture coating stuff.

That P.38 is clean, I like the blacked out look and Stereo upgrades, Plus i use too have Cooper stt's on my LR3 before i sold it, those were good tires. Right now all i have is a jl audio 300/4 amp under the passenger seat and some polk db series speakers because their marine rated and I drive a 97 d-90 ST

I managed to buy a factory air box today and this problem should now be eliminated......I bought it from this local Land Rover wrecking yard called "Land Rover's Land",.........At least I got the part I needed at an OK price.

I would only go to those guys if you absolutly have to, need it right away and have exersized all options.....ebay, roverparts.com, local dealer, stealing your neighbors parts, etc. (ok, maybe not that last one  )

I've seen their ads on ebay, always seemed high price compared to Will or the for sale bin here.

Can't vouch for their service, as I've never used them.

Hehe, I don't like the blacked out covers either, they just came on the truck like that. (PS if anyone wants my blacked out lights please PM me and maybe we can trade? I like the all red/white OEM ones personally) I just got this truck 1 month ago, still work in progress....
