Things are coming together to get the van fixed. Someone has offered to donate the engine and the van will be hauled up to Penn to get fixed. This has all been amazing and I can't believe how much we raised in such a short amount of time. A good bit of the money will be able to be used to pay for household things that they need. PayPal has been great with the situation as well. They had asked for tax info and financial records of a charity in order to allow donations and had put the account on hold. I responded to their request with a description of what's going on with the family and my intentions as well as links to the threads on Discoweb and D90 and I got a very nice reply wishing them good luck and telling me what I was doing was amazing. They took the hold off and upgraded the account to charity/non proffit status. I just can't do anymore raffles. Thanks everyone and keep the family in your toughts and prayers. Donations can still be made to help with daily stuff and doctor visits.

Sorry I meant to update, but forgot. The van was transported to Trevor Griffith's shop in Penn to have a replacement engine put in. The new engine was donated by a dweb member!

The engine arrived last Friday and as of today, is back in the car. Just a matter of reconnecting exhaust, hoses, pipes, wires, 1/2 shafts, this, that, and the other. Also, we found the reason why the first engine expired- the water pump impeller and fan parted company.
Fitting a new pump, thermostat, belt, plugs, wires, gaskets etc. Also found the power steering pulley had a chunk missing from it and was wearing on the serp belt.
Concerned about the catalyst- looks like the coolant running through the exhaust has eroded a channel through part of the element.
Should have it running monday- not enough time today as I have to deliver a 110 to Baltimore.

Nicholas' Mother gave me this to pass on to all of you that helped. The van is back in VA from PA, but we are still figuring out a few issues with it. I'm not that worried about it and I think it will all get figured out. If anyone still wants to help out PayPal is still there. hope4nicholaswilliams@gmail.com.

This family can't get a break! Nicholas' dad, Kelly, was in a serious car accident yesterday. He veered off the road, rolled over, and hit a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected through the driver's side window when the vehicle rolled and was crushed between the vehicle and the road. The extrication took nearly an hour and he was flown to UVA medical center. He suffered serious head and chest injurys as well as a severly broken ankle caused when the firewall and engine was pushed into the passenger compartment. His wife called me first and was crying so hard she couldn't breath. Apparently when the State Trooper came to the house all he would tell her is that Kelly was alive when he left the scene, but she needed to get to the hospital as quick as possible. My wife and I left work and went to the hospital also. He was awake and talking when I got there, but has been going in and out of conciousness since. There is possible pressure on the brain and unknown internal damage. Last night was rough, but he is looking better this evening and they will know more tomorrow. Please keep this family in your thought and prayers. I'll keep everyone advised on how things are going.

Need to get this back to the top, Nicholas' family will be without income and health insurance as of February 28th. The accident made his dad, Kelly, unable to work and he has been forced to retire from his job. He can't have retirement benifits for 18 months. They are going to try and get Cobra coverage until then, but it costs $1800 a month. My wife was at his house yesterday and says it is an absolute emotional disaster zone. My wife stayed up late last night looking online for some help for them from the government and has found some possibilities, but it will take time to get anything into effect. We are going to contact Bank of America and see if they can hold off on collecting the mortgage for a while so the family can concentrate on things they need. My family has given all we can and i'm hoping some of you guys can help out alittle again. $5 or $10 dollars will help at this point. They don't have money for groceries. Nicholas needs constant medical care and frequently spends a night in the hospital and makes trips to Atlanta to see one of the only specialists in the county that can help him. They have not sought out any goverment help prior to this and have worked hard to make a go of it without assistance, but they seem to face tragedy and misfortune more than any people I have ever met. Nicholas loves Rovers and Jeeps and maybe one weekend soon we can get some people together and have a little car show at their house and take them out to dinner. The paypal is still up so please help if you can. Every dollar will help. Thanks!

Trevor,
Where is the help to be sent?

D90 collected 16000 to help the family of a CA member killed on a motorcycle accident,
We need to cross post this and hope we can make a similar impact.

Please post the paypal or addressto mail the donation

My family prayers are with little Nicholas and his family
