All good points, especially the clowns. Who the hell even likes clowns, anyways?
I picked up a Jackson shovel from Lowes today. Now I just have to figure out where to mount it. I don't want the weight nazi's to come down on me if I throw it on the spare tire.

Bungie cords on the spare tire works for most people. Because I have the stock spare, I left the POS plastic cover over the ugly steel spare. That's why the shovel went on the ladder. Some Quick Fists on your roof rack would be another option.

As per my experience the sensor starts to fail when it gets hot. They were racing the tide a bit when the engine died. BUT I told both of them, don't go up there the tide is rising.

Speaking of tidal areas, I got stuck in one a few months ago. We're talking about 8 feet of water going out and then coming back in. I used my shovel, very quickly.

I'll probably be made to regret it; somehow. But, I whole heartedly agree. After, sliders and Lockers it may be the most useful piece of equipment in the truck. You'll find more uses for it than we can collectively list in a month.

Actually I would say diff guards, winch and that stocker hydraulic jack are more useful than lockers, sliders and shovel.

Get a folding army surplus shovel and throw it in with your spare parts and recovery gear. Even if you don't use it to recover yourself, you could end up digging a fire pit or latrine with it.

Fail.

An e-tool is no replacement for a proper shovel. Get a proper shovel for your vehicle and when you need it, you'll thank yourself. If you have rack it really doesn't take any extra room.
