I joined Tennessee Rovers a couple years ago and have gone on a couple trail rides with them. Their big fling, the Tennesee Adventure Rally is held at Windrock, a killer off-road place in the Great Smokey Mountains. Located in Olive Springs, TN just outside of Knoxville, it has tons of trails from mild to extreme. They have a nice campground, plenty of trails to keep a Land Rover busy for several days. They change up the trails every once in a while, but sell maps so you can find your way out. Mud, rocks, water, you name it. The only problem is its open to ATVs and on the weekends they can get plentiful. If people are up for a little trip, I would be very interested. Windrock is open to the public. They usually charge $20/person/day, but its worth it.

I'll also keep my ear open to see if the TN club is having a trail ride up there in the near future and maybe some of us can caravan down. The club members have trucks from mild to insanly modified. Good bunch of guys.

Actually, TAR 2005 should be in July. Something worth considering.

So, how was the trip. Did I miss anything. I talked with Stu while you guys were there and he said you had some trouble getting the trucks up the back way and had to turn around and go back to the other entrance. Hope you guys had fun. You will have to let me know how it went and post some pics.

I had a great time. We hit some of the same trails as last time plus some others. Camped in stumps cave and mingled with the locals.

We had 8 trucks in the convoy. Which worked out pretty nicely.

Here is a pic of the group preparing to cross White's Arch.

Looks like you guys had some fun. That sucks that I missed it. Looks like that last pic was the same place where Stuart had to lower me down.

I email Matt yesterday and he said they got out around 3pm. Apparently it was the wiring to the pump. But they got out safely.

Hyter, where? I found the Cobra like Stu's at Radio Shack for $120 today and just about bought it. But, figured I could find one cheaper somewhere online. Do tell.

Also, when we going to Livingston? Check your calendars.

Im planning on going to Monteagle 3/12 for a trail ride with TN rovers and LR of Nashville. You guys wanna go?

Its good to hear that they all got out of the cave and on their way home. I would love to go on the 12th but i am leaving for spring break the friday before...Take lots of pics for me though...
I looked on ebay for a radio and there were some good prices. I ended up with the cobra 19. I wanted something that i could mount out of my way. There is a great little CB shop ran by 2 guys right off 75. Heading north into lexington its the exit right before the Clays Ferry bridge. i got the CB, all the wires, a 3ft antanna and everything else i needed for $90. They were some really nice good old guys and i ended up sitting around with them for about 45min talking about Rovers...I think i may have sparked an interest. I gave one of the guys this site, he said he was going to check it out. they had the cobra like stuarts for like 100??
About the livingston trip...maybe the last weekend in march? 1st weekend of april?

Actually, I may end up going to Windrock instead on the 12th and camping with the family. Then going turkey hunting the next weekend back in Alabama. But, that may not work out either.

As far later this month, it will be tough. After that, I have exams again.

Im also looking into the Uwharrie Safari May 15-17 in NC. Man, Im gonna flunk boards!

Why dont you and Stu get your crap together and go with me to NC?

John, May 15 sounds good as of right now. I will have to see whats going on closer to date, but as it looks now i will prob. be able to make it. keep me posted on it.

Livingston is part of Danial Boon Nat. Forest. Just alot of good old logging roads and trails. It has been open since the 1970s. Its right off I75 exit 49. about 1 hour south of Lexington.
