A few of us went this last month, and I had such a blast I proposed this trip. So, me I guess. I am going to need help tho. We will try to arrange a meeting time and location in a day or two. I think Stu should be the cheif navigator since he has NASA headquarters on the dash of his DII. We found a couple of good camping spots last trip, so we have a good idea where those are. If you cant camp, we'll get you to the highway.

Chris, feel free to invite who you'd like. In my opinion, the more the better. The best way to get in touch with me is johnbleazard@yahoo.com

This gathering is just a bunch of responsible LR enthusiasts going into the woods looking to explore our rovers, not tear up anything serious, have fun, meet people, and enjoy the incredible scenery. It isnt a club thing or anything formal.

Maybe next time we can raffle an LR3, make T-shirts, and have Tai food delivered to the camp site. I'll let someone else handle that kind of event. Hell, I cant find the turn signal fluid resevoir on my truck.

If we have a real large bunch, it may be possible to split up into 2 groups. It sounds like as many as 15 are interested.

Well guys...I just got back from the gorge about a hour ago...It is now 10pm. A friend and I meet up with 4 other trucks at the shell store at 11pm last night (sat 19th) We got to the trail head at about 11:30. Our trip was to stumps cave to stay the night then get up meet one other truck at shell at 1pm and then wheel on a new trail to see what it was like. We made it to the cave around 1am. The rains had washed some of the roads out and since we were traveling with 2 stock jeeps we had to build somewhat of a bridge with rocks...we got to the cave built a fire (with wood i brought, common camping areas are sometimes hard to find wood around. I always try to bring a little with me. We should try to do the same for next weeks trip)and sat around drinking beer and telling stories untill about 5am. WE got up around 11 and took out for the shell. at 12:30 we had 2 trucks stuck (of corse the 2 jeeps). i pulled one out, but as soon as i got out i was stuck. I was pulled out by a FJ-40 with a warn winch. To make a very long story short everyone got stuck at least once, one of the jeeps got water in the air-intake so i had to pull him out of the gorge, the other jeep slid into a tree and dinted his door in and broke his passanger side window. we didnt get to meet our friend at shell or even get ahold of him to say we wouldnt be able to make it. we didnt get off of the trail untill about 7pm tonight. All in all we had a great time. Im ready for next week as long as i dont find anything wrong with my truck. ;)
John, I would love to meet one night this week maybe Wed night and we could talk with whoever else wanted to meet about getting something going where we can make future plans for trips. I will be willing to take on any roll or do anything i can to getsomething going. I had one guy call me tonight and ask for detals for next weeks trip. I told him we may meet in lexington for a beer on wed night to talk about things. WOuld that work for you? or are you interested in meeting before this weekend. either way is fine with me. I just think we should maybe get a list together and have phone numbers and emails.

Important

Sounds like you guys had an interesting trip.

I think it would be good to have a small gather prior for those in the area. I probably cant get away until Fri night and I live in Pikeville, so it might be better for me to just wait and meet you guys sat. But, if those in Lexington, or that area, want to meet up before hand , I think it would be a good idea.

So, first off I would like to suggest we meet at the Campton exit (43) at the McDonalds at 10-11am on Sat 2/26. Does anyone have any objections to this time or place. Maybe have lunch and try to head out by 11:30. That way it would give a window for late comers. Campton has a decent grocery store, parts house, etc to gas and stock up on things for the ride.

And, I think it would be a good time, as Hyter suggested, for a preliminary roll call. Please email me at johnbleazard@yahoo.com with your name, home number or cell number (in case we need to find you prior to leaving to the woods), vehicle description, and any other information you feel pertinent.

I will reply to your email, letting you know that we are aware you are going to make it and give you my cell and home phone numbers and of those at the gathering in case you need to make a last minute cancellation.

I really think this is going to be an absolutely incredible time. Especially, if we have the numbers we are expecting. The weather report for the weekend changes everyday, but it consistently shows sunny or cloudy with little chance for rain. I dont know about you people, but Im pumped up!

Hyter, and those intersted, maybe we could meet closer to 10a and discuss future meetings / trail rides. Heck, we may the beginning of a nice little Rover club.

So email me already!

Let me know your suggestions too.

Sorry guys, I don't think I'm gonna make it this time. Gonna be doing some home improvements. Got a big day planned. Gonna make a trip to home depot, and then if theres time maybe Bed Bath and Beyond. Who knows! There may not be time.

John, count me in for next time though.

I'm all set and ready to go, but this weekend won't be a good one for me. I have been putting projects off for to long. I had a great time last time though. You will have to send me some pics of your trip, and stories.

Be safe guys! Don't do any cliff jumping.

Change In Plans

IMPORTANT:

After talking with a couple others, I think it would be best to meet at the Slade exit (#33) at around 10am at the Shell station. It would be closer for those coming down from Lexington.

If there are any objections, let me know.

Again, email me if you are considering the trip if you havent already so we dont leave anyone behind.
