Has anyone seen a registry for the RRC hunter editions? I know not all 405 (1991 model) of them made it onto the road/trails in hunter trim. I am curious as to how many are still around.

I have RR#603517. Dont know what # Hunter it was though. It's Arran beige, RUST FREE (came from southern California originally). I believe that most of the Hunters were of east coast origin, but I dont remember where I heard that...
Mine is now at 98,xxx miles and I have alot of records all the way back to the original window sticker.

Bob Steele of ROAV has a 91 Hunter (Eastnor green) that he has owned since new. It now has over 255,000 miles on it (not the motor/drivetrain)! He has taken that truck alot of places...

what is special about a hunter?
It was actually a "budget" Range Rover back in '91. It had a cloth interior, no ABS system, no front air spoiler or fog lights, and no power windows/sunroof(unless special ordered by dealers). Mine was $38,575 (with sunroof & p/windows)from South Bay Autohaus in Torrance, CA in 1991.

I've had an Eastnor green Hunter for a few years. My favorite classic out of 2 previous.
Always wanted the Arran Beige one but found mine for a decent price on ebay. Mine has manual seat adjustments as all but power windows. Does anyone have the manual window versions?

I've seen two at MAR with manual windows. I think power windows only came with the sunroof option ( a $1500 add on according to my invoice).

Mine has power windows but no sunroof, the lesser of two evils so no complaints.

What's odd is it came from the original owner and it had the full spoiler with fogs. They must have had the dealer add it.

Getting ready to do the LT230 swap on it, all the parts now just need to buy some time.

I have owened two. A green and a Arran Beige, Both had power windows & no sunroof. Just sold the Arran beige one to a good friend of mine. That one was featured in Land Rover Enthusiast in April 2002. It was a one owner with all paperwork including window sticker. It had over 170,000 on it and has never been apart. I still have a extra Hunter sales brochure & magazine ad. Also a goodyear ad that featured the Hunter as well (hunters were the only RR sold with goodyears) All silver wheels as well. The Hunters also did not have sway bars. Used american walnut on the doors but no dash wood treatment. No load compartment cover. Dog Guard and cargo net on the gate standard. The small chin spoiler on the Hunter is the UK Diesel spoiler. Only RR sold in the US without power seats. Although the Hunter does not have ABS it uses ABS calipers. Even the owners manual had the hunter logo on it. I have a new spare gate decal in Silver. I also have a factory Range Rover instructional video called winching with an exceptional vehicle. It features winching techniques using a Arran Beige Hunter. There also were 125 Hunters in 1989 but these were a upscale treatment. They used the same gate decal. They had green wheels to match the paint. I hated to see it go but I needed the space for my XD. Scott

Mine is a 1991 model in Eastnor Green, 195,000 miles, no sunroof, with power windows. I have added RTE 2 in spings, + 2 in. shocks, mud tires, and custom bumpers that look like the originals but in 1/4 in steel complete with 7/16 end caps.

Hi Roverdoc, I want to hang onto the decal for now incase I buy another one. As posted you can still buy them. You might still be able to get them from your dealer. I was able to get a few of the 40th anniversary logo decals for a 88 Range Rover a year ago I restored. I like collecting the older Range Rover of North America stuff before it was changed to LRNA. The decals came in silver or black. Usally only the silver is around now. You could have a decal shop scan it and make a new one in black. If I remember right the red and eastnor green hunters had the silver decals including the range rover words on hood and gate. The white and Arran Beige ones had black decals. To me the 91 Hunters are the best Range Rovers. I plan to use the master cylinder from one to eliminate my abs on my XD eventually. Scott

The Hunter is looking good John - makes me happy to see my old truck in such good hands.

I've never heard of a Range Rover sold in the US with manual windows - including the Hunters. The electrically powered windows are actually more reliable than the manual ones - most of the problems with power windows are with the cheap switches that Rover used. The year that Range Rovers were used in the Camel Trophy they had a mix of trucks with and without power windows. They had more failures of the manual windows on that trip than with the power ones.

At the very first MAR I took the Hunter to back in 1995 some guys from Land Rover of North America told me I had the best Range Rover ever made for off road work. After eleven years and 120,000 miles in that Hunter I'd have to agree with them.

I had a 91 Hunter, Eastnor Green, here in Los Angeles. The bad news is that my son totaled it a little over a year ago. I heard some one bought the truck on a salvaged title & it is up in Northern Calif. I truely miss it.
