I thought i would pass on this info to all of you for all the great info you have given me in the past..

This is a tale of Cruse Control madness.
About 3 years ago It stopped working. At that time I looked over the hoses. And found multiple breaks. Repaired and drove, still no CC love.

Until the summer rolled around and it got blazing hot in the rig. Then she would work, for a while till it cooled down inside. Then no more CC love. Which made me a sad panda.

Fast forward to last week, I got a copy of the Rave manual for my 95 DI and proceeded to trouble shoot via the guide. Everything points to a bad ECU. I think OH NOEZ! My wallet going to take a hit! I pull the unit out and open her up (what the hell I have to buy a new one right). After looking over the board with a magnifying glass I found a few solder breaks and cold solder joints.

After removing the seemingly endless lacquer finish on the back of the board. I was able to re solder all the pads. Snapped her back together and went out for a test drive.

She works!

So.. if it points to a bad ECU and your good with an Iron, check the solder pads I bet some are broken.

Where is the CC ECU at? I have never had a rover with a working CC.

remove the glove box door.. you will see a silver box about 1 X 3 X 5 inches with a black multiplug facing you. it attached to the Main ECU by 2 capnuts.

Does this also apply to the D2?

Good tip.

I can confirm this. A reliable Rover shop in Albuquerque (CRT Automotive) taught me this. They routinely open up the failed unit and solder the broken connections back together. I have not seen them do this but when my unit failed a few years ago (I was able to find a cheap used one back then) they explained that there are a few connection in the unit that are prone to break under vibration and can be carefully resoldered.

I had been thinking about this because after 3-4 good years my CC has failed again.

@#$%!

Dan -- The vacuum pump can be hard to find (assuming you're not joking) -- its tucked into an alcove near the driver's side (NAS) head light.

I'll have to check mine again... I looked it over and found no cracks or holes in my vac lines, so I hope it's not my ECU. I REALLY wish it worked, I love CC.
Thanks for the info "Fat"
