Okay the fact you hate ponies I'm okay with...now to the point...

Is this a bitch? Would you do it again? Would you recomend? What is your 2 cents?

I'm on the fence, I have already located nipple on my 00" DII and I'm thinking hard about it, was thinking of going with a manual lever, maybe even selenoid style with switch.

What do you think?

Thanks.

I would do it again 100 times over. It will take less than a day and give you a great upgrade. The hardest thing to do is to start. Everything else is pretty straight forward. There are no special tools involved. Mine took longer because i had to make the linkage. It was not hard to make but it was hard to adjust. I had to reinstall it about 15 times to get it just right. If you have the factory linkage it will be super easy. There are a ton of links and any problems are one question away. Its cheaper than the 04 cdl and works better than the shifter i had. Its way cheaper than the solenoid and easier to adjust. The only mods you will have to make are: Bend the high low shifter linkage , cut the black tunnel pan, replace the rivets with tappets.

I see that you popped out the little star nut and plastic fitting to remove the shifter cable from the shifter mechanism. Those little pieces are fragile and hard to replace. For those out there who want to do this mod, IMHO I think it's easier to just disconnect the cable from the transmission under the truck, as outlined in the ashcroft 04 linkage instructions and remove the shifter and cable together. It's a lot easier and no worries about little pieces or tearing the rubber boot near the cable strain relief ...

I agree its easier that way. I did it the other way so i could still move the truck. If you leave the cable on the transmission you can still drive the truck if you need to. If you take it apart the way i did be careful because the parts are fragile. If you take your time and be careful you should have no problems and you can move the truck to help with the adjustments.
