Really not my sort of charity either. I won't get into it, though, and spoil a nice thread.

I hope a Dweber gets it.

Cheers,

i just bought one. i mentally justified it by counting it as part of my church tithe, since it's going to a Christian cause. on the other hand, i do drink. so, kenneth, does one ticket get me 1/5 of a pint? i prefer guinness. :)

hell, if i actually win the damn thing, i'll buy you a beer. of course, after the luxury tax, it'll have to be a natural light. :p

Does any one know how many tickets are left? I'm curious if they are on track to sell all the tickets by the 15th.

Yes! You will be receiving a ticket and that is why we have listed the
drawing date 2 weeks after the close of the tickets which is to ensure that
everyone has received their packet. We will make sure that if you purchased
a ticket you are entered into the drawing. We also greatly appreciate your
support in this event. Hope that helps and good luck!

Kind of lame... Took the fun out of it in a way.

Hmmm, That kind of upsets me as well. :( Maybe the people at ROW fear that it will not sell in the raffle therefore they placed it on EBAY?

It just seems as though there should be a disclaimer on the www.row.org page stating that it is also up for auction. I could understand them going that way after all the tickets didn't sell, but during and having the auction end on the same day as the raffle just seems strange. It certainly doesn't seem ethical and I am curious as to the legality.

The unobtainium of the Defender is lost when you could just go on Ebay and buy it, rather than some good old fashioned luck of the draw super-prize.

it has a young life sticker on it. automatic 10 grand reduction. that means it has been driven by a high school kid, or the guy who invented young life. no counselor could afford it so they are ruled out. my bet is rich teenager drove this one.

Well, at first that might seem pretty uncool, but if you read the listing, they basicly are pushing people to the raffle, but if someone really want to just give them lump sum in one shot, then they could simple bid the $30K. I dont think we really have to worry about someone bidding on it since its not a $30K truck and the raffle is more fun.
