So, does the winner have to pay gift taxes? Still would be a bargain, but you college kids ought to think about that aspect...

Yes, you'll pay several thousand in taxes on it- but it's still a good deal.

Gee.... this thread got real cold....

Hey, has anyone actually received a paper ticket? I bought one a week ago and noting has shown up in the mail. I'm not implying that this is a scam; the org looks very legit.
Just curious.

Market value or one of the NADA collector's blue books.

I believe the NADA values on these are fairly low if I remember correctly from looking once, like ~$15k I think. It helps for the winner when Uncle Sam dips in.

95 D90- f: $15,175 E: $27,175 and Average: $20,000
97 D90- F: $21,825 E: $35,750 and Average: $27,300

I never thought I would receive a ticket. I think they just draw and call you. I did not read the details, did it say we would recieve a ticket in the mail?

Nice KEJ...IRS who?

I might be posting it on DWEB real quick like. I did not even think about gift taxes. Well Paul, if I win it's shipped in your name.

I never received anything but the address I used was VT so I will have to call back home and see if anything came.

It's not my kind of gambling, but I hope one of you guys wins it.

I almost wish I could convince myself to do that, but a 1 in 300 chance? Only a hundred bucks, I know, but damn. :) I'm by no means a tight wad, I am a pretty big spender, but I have never bought a raffle ticket in my life. Maby if they gave me a hat right away or something... :D

I'm not knocking it, you guys got balls, though. Nice big brass ones. The guy that bought 5 can come over and have one of my beers.

Cheers,

Kennith

I bought 5 and I don't drink beer. But thanks for the offer.

I don't have any mis-perceptions on my chances of winning. I think its a good cause and I ear-mark some percent of my earnings for charity causes so this fits into the plan. Plus, I get the charity benefit + a chance to win a D90. Its a win-win for me either way.
