D2 Dog Guard

I just purchased a used dog guard for my D2. I see the hardware kit for sale (stc50231) so I thought it would not be an issue to get the mounting hardware. I down loaded a copy of the installation instructions.

Now something doesn't look right. My guard has the LR part number of STC 50082 while the instructions say STC 50082AA. It looks like they changed the guard at some point making it mount different. Does anyone know anything about a mounting change and if the old style hardware is available anywhere?

I've seen two different styles of mounting if that helps. Don't know much about the part numbers or anything.

Very good, thanks. Here is a picture of my dog guard. Looks like the new style doesn't have the pins?

I have the same guard but the mount on the bottom is shaped in a U that has a T shaped bolt and thumb screw with it. I will try to snap a picture of what I am talking about here shortly.

Interesting mount on the bottom. When I got my dog guard (used) it came with no hardware, and what I got for hardware was not what is shown in the RAVE. Instead of the thumb screw shown in RAVE, mine came with a plastic C shaped clamp that the guard slipped into. In the middle are some wedges that pinch into the hole where the old thumb screws originally went.

Thanks for all the inputs. I will try that mounting kit but I am just concerned about the (does not include metal quick release brackets-not available separately) statement. In the instructions those look brackets that go on the guard and face to the rear about 3 inches. I think my guard would not be strait up and down.

specops1526, does yours go in strait up or slant back a few inches.

I've never installed mine. Bought one off someone on LRX and it came with that mounting kit which was unopened. The guard got damaged in shipping and UPS made me send it back to the sender (retarded rules). Well the fucking douchebag kept it and never sent it back and never gave me a refund.

So, I just got a replacement one like yours a few months ago sans mounting kit. I'm thinking about installing it soon. Hopefully the mounting kit is correct...

The link specops posted is what I have for a mounting kit. My guard already had the 3 inch quick release brackets on it from the seller. Not having those might make the install pretty tough, if not impossible. The angle might be too much for the bottom to stay in place.

One issue I ran into was the lack of a template with the mounting kit to show where to cut the holes in the upper trim. I removed the trim and just eye balled it. With it removed, you can see the nut and where the bolt attaches.

Disco2Guy, thanks. Really sounds like this old style guard will not work with the new hardware kits available. At least I will have a nice trellis for tomatoes next year. :(

specops1526, I thought things like that only happened to me. I have almost quit gambling with good deals on used parts. Way too many people like that who don't mind ripping you off.

Hmmm, so I may be screwed too. I'll have to check my installation instructions to see if I'm missing anything. I think I also got the install template faxed to me from AB or RN.
