Keep the TT

Having owned three D90's myself, I would definitely KEEP the TT. You already own a highly capable unique D1.

I found myself moving my D90's out of the way to drive whatever else I had. For me the novelty wore off pretty quickly with the D90's. In addition to that, I truly appreciate a "drivers car" like the Audi.

You put a lot of love into that Audi, man. I don't know if the trade is going to be worth it for you. I'm a person who actually likes drafty, spartan vehicles, but I don't know if I'd give up something I put that much work into to have one.

Cheers,

Kennith

Sad to say it, but keep the TT.
The money you save on gas in 5 years will be enough for another D90. I've heard love and hate for Defenders. I've wanted to get a TT, but I'm leaning more towards an A4 or an A6 as I've got a kid. So, throw that in the mix and it changes perspective :)

I was an Audi/VW guy before I got into LR (and still am). It looks from the pic, at least the yellow (Boxter?) caliper and BBS LM's?... That you do indeed have the TT well sorted, without even knowing what you've done to the 1.8t.

That being said, my opinion would be to keep the TT. If it's a monetary concern straightening out the Defender, remember the cost of building the TT, let alone building another one if/when you got tired of the D90.

If you were closer, I'd say come take a spin in my GT3071R spooled, 1.8t '83 Rabbit. It's kinda nice having a little of the "Best of Both Worlds" ;)

Defender all the way. The Audi will continue to depreciate a lot faster than the defender...

C-

The prices of the D90 will remain high for some amount of time... what's the value of a 12 year old AUDI? I love the TT, but you could always get another for less $$... I'd have that 90 in a heartbeat.. if I could trade my rig straight up for it I'd go for it.

D90 over TT? yes. More room, more places, more fun. Get the d90 and pick up a used GSXR or a BMW bike for yer need fer speed.

The TT can be had anytime anywhere. take your time finding the right defender to buy/build

yeah. maybe trade the audi for a D90. but not that D90. who needs arrows on your bumper pointing to things and a label to tell you where the 12 V.D.C...blah blah blah, at this point the fact that it's labeled as such... really. ...and an axe on the side and a ridiculous snorkel. D90s aren't a dime a dozen, they're like 25 grand for one. but that one doesn't seem special enough to get rid of something like that TT.

I have to get rid of my car b/c of moving. It's only a beater 86 325i. I can get another one later, but I dont want to. The you can get one later argument is bogus because you can always get one of anything later except for those cars that they only make 6 of, but it won't be the same as your last one. Put serious thought into what you're doing, which I'm sure you are, before you plunge into that defender while you already have a disco.

993 twin turbo calipers:cool:

Im runnin a Gt 2871r right now...well behaved as a DD with no bugs whatsoever unlike a few turbo swap jobs out there, making boost @ 3 grand with a 7100rpm redline...
Plus awd is nice for traction...

As it sits I think I'm gonna keep the Roach...I chewed over what everyone here had to say and...yes I might get out better with the d90 in a resale..but I can get close to 30mpg in the Audi and its nicer to pick up friends in a nice car than a Landy in most cases

What are the specs/condition on the d90? D90s' range in value between 15-60k usually, so its hard to determine if it's a worthy trade without a more complete history of the 90.... And why is there a tube coming out of the gas tank?

What year? How many miles? Rust/interior condition?

I currently have what you are considering doing-owning a disco & a defender... There is nothing similar between the two, there is a whole different feeling you get while jumping into that 90 in the morning. Bottom line, I think you should definitely get a defender if you want one, the 'craving' to own one won't stop until you buy one, then you'll crave to buy more!

But... Is trading your TT for that Defender a good decision? All comes down to the value of both of them.. What, realistically, could you sell your TT for, and what would that D90 sell for (not just what the seller has it listed for). 90s only go up in value for low miles and great condition... the mods generally lower the price, but in the end, will end up saving you money if you think you'll mod it.

Weren't you looking for a D some time ago?

Keep the TT. That Defender looks like a sewer system. Leads to other question about where the owner got creative. I can seem mucho $$$ getting that truck to look as it should.
