Need to get a new remote, but since that peculiar pin design is no longer available, it looks like I'll be replacing the solenoid as well. Never liked it in the first place....

Anyway, the Albright HD 90-14452 that EE sells seems to be a great bit of kit: small(er) and waterproof. Any reason why it can't be used with the MileMarker 12000? Not sure what the amp rating or duty cycle is....

Cheers

Why can't you replace the plug and remote? Much cheaper option.

'cause the remote - or rather, its plug - isn't made anymore. It has some weird, proprietary pin placement that simply isn't available. Bought (and returned) two that were supposedly compatible, but weren't. As for replacing the plug, I have never liked the solenoid's total lack of water resistance, so i thought I would start from scratch, so to speak. Got to spend that stimulus money somehow. :p

Did find a combination solenoid with a wireless remote at Off Road Motor Sports for a great price. But it was too good to be true, it seems. Only took six or eight months to get a refund when they couldn't ship it. (Got a different answer as to "why" each time I called....)

Yeah, solenoids are solenoids, but to answer Dan, the Albright appears to be the smallest, most compact, most waterproof unit available anywhere. I have never seen one installed or in use and was wondering about heat generation, duty cycles and such. Cheap solenoids, when they can't dissipate heat, have an annoying tendency to cut out when you need 'em the most....

Hi,

Most guys who use their trucks for comp's in the UK have replaced the origional winch solenoids with Albrights. They work.... under water, in mud & are well respected.

Cheers,
Andy

You're a dumbass, Sandy. Why would you dump $200.00 into a POS winch? You bought a cheapfuck disposable winch and it has quit working. It's time to toss it out, not repair it.

...and why the fuck do you need a 12,000lb winch? You don't even go off-road. You owning a winch is like liftedfreelander owning a pack of condoms.

Sell your POS on ebay, as is, for $150.00. Then take that money, plus the money you're going to spend to temporally repair your POS, and go to Amazon.com and buy an EP9 or EPi9.
