I need to get a new hand-held remote for the 5 year old MM 12000...the cheap plastic covering the in/out buttons has died, apparently from non-use. Like most rover-related items, they are happiest when gettin' put to use - frequently.

Anyway, the solenoid has a proprietary socket - and that hand held isn't made anymore. Can't even buy the female socket portion of their new connection. It isn't available separately. They say the only way to get back in operation is buy a whole new solenoid and hand held.

I guess I could rewire the solenoid with some generic hand held - but then I was never particularly fond of the solenoid in the first place. The Chinese-made innards looked pretty cheesy. You get what you pay for, I guess....

MM made a low-profile solenoid that appeared to bolt directly to the winch's terminals - but guess what? They don't make that anymore, either....:banghead:

So, since I need a new solenoid, preferably *not* MM-related, any suggestions? I been to a few winch supply web site, but none has just the solenoid for sale.

Cheers

When I searched earlier, I found several controller boxes/relays, but none that matched the proprietary hook-up configuration for the hand-held. So I ordered another solenoid box and a new hand-held from MileMarker. It's about $170, which is actually cheaper than anything else I could find....

...until this morning. When I removed the old solenoid box last night, there was "T-max" stamped into the plastic cover on the inside. Sure enough, T-max still has the same connection! (I imagine that MM when they were 'new' to the game 5 years ago, bought T-max controllers, only to drop 'em as MM grew.) T-Max's "boomer box" is an integrated solenoid controller that will work with *any* three wire winch. Plus, it has built-in wireless control and appears to be a lot more water-resistant than the MM ones.
