"Compassionate conservatism" is not a term coined by me. It was embraced by our current president in his run in 2000. The utter lack of it is embodied by the likes of Ann Coulter. She was recently in my little county and I'm proud to say she was not given an easy time of it.

So, some of you don't like books coming out by relatives of the 9-11 victims? You don't seem to criticize Ann Coulter's attempt to profit by dragging them around by the hair. Perhaps only people who support this president should be allowed to write books, eh? Keep grasping at straws; though slow to get it, this country has finally figured out they were sold a bill of goods with Dubya. He is neither compassionate nor a conservative, not to mention the fact that he's not the "uniter" he promised he'd be.

KJ P.S. to Chris: We can't pick up Air America in our rural locale, thus we are forced to <GASP!> form our own opinions, as much as you wish it weren't so. You'll just have to keep listening to Al Franken and report back. :patriot:

i think bush sucks. i think he is a not good person, but his politics arent that bad.

i dont mind books coming about on either side of the issue. but when extreem opinions threated to reshape the political landscape , and i dont agree with them, well then you hear me pipe up. i am aware of the tacktics people use to persuade the nation. i use these tacktics when they are to my advantage and complain when they are not and until the system changes this is the only way to fly. its playing the game but being completely aware that is only a game.

ahhh, well...you know how it is. if you support the president and your loved one dies, you are a hero. if you do not support the president, then you should shut up, sit down, stop being a collectivist communist coddling crybaby and understand that freedom is not free. coulter has always had a hard-on for the left and her ability to parse out reality from hyperbole is on par with junk science and H2's. if it were not that so many people think she is on to something, i would think she was pretty funny. if you are on the left and you make whacko claims, you are a nutjob, if you are on the right, then you become national science advisor or sec of education or president or something.

Well..I don't follow those women's lives, so I can't comment on what they're doing or not doing. I do know that some people actually do use tragedy to their own advantage. Much like everytime his ratings go down, Bush trots out the 9-11 attack as reason we should let him do whatever he wants. If these women are doing what Ann claims, it's no worse than Bush using their husbands', and 1000's of others', deaths to personal advantage.
As for Ann Coulter, I've read a lot of what she's written and find her to be very mean spirited, a hypocrite and self rigtheous (is she married to Sean Hannity?)...and IMO that makes her one of the ugliest women I know. If she came walking in to my camp naked saying she was horny as hell I'd tell her to fuck off. Ugg....the thought of anything else makes my skin crawl.

For the sake of argument let's say the women are marketing their tradgedy. I wonder how many people were sympathetic to the women, offering help or whatever and then read Ann Coulter's comments and said "Oh my gosh! Ann's right! That never occured to me." I'd venture to say exactly zero. IMO Coulter is just looking for more people to attack so she can make more money. Simple as that.

garrett how do you feel about the wives, i know you feel about the cunt.

i dunno. i am pretty indifferent to them at this point. certainly they have suffered and experienced a horrible loss, but so have millions of other people. have they used their loss to their gain at this point? i am sure they have..........whether they intended for that to happen or not. but from the medias perspective they have.

but what seperates this woman is her belligerent and consistant pattern that she seems to proud of. that bugs me.

it's not political to me at all.

"Compassionate conservatism" sounds a little like an oxymoron. I heard her book is in the top three best sellers. Even bad publicity sells. She appears to be jealous of those families terrible losses. That's sick. She needs a ride on the sybian, she sounds a bit angry and has a lot of sexual tension built up.

Having these widows spout opinions about foreign policy and expecting the public to give a care is as ridiculous as when Congress interviewed Sally Fields about the plight of the farmer, because she portrayed one in a movie.

Those women lost their husbands, lots of people did, husbands, wifes, daughters and sons. They deserve our sympathy, but they should not be out there making $$ from the tragedy. LTG Timothy Maude died in the Pentagon that day, and his wife is not out there making political hay and book tours. That is what these women should aspire to. Bury your dead and move on. Support the country and don't try to become a *^*^)* celebrity.

To be fair Karen, I do like your opinions because they are yours and not something spoon fed to you. I'm not sure how you are always so wrong, after clearly so much research. :smilelol:

However, Quite being a cheapo and get Sirius. They have Air America so you can worship at the house of Franken. :patriot:

:banghead: Why anybody would pay to listen to Franken or Howard Stern is beyond me. The farts that come from my dog make more sense than those two idiots.

My issue with the "wives from new jersey" is the fact that blame Bush/our government for the deaths of their families. The last time I checked radical islamic terrorists were the ones guilty of these murders. Why is it some people will not assign guilt to those who actually committed the crime? These women were put on a platform by a group of liberals because it would be un PC to disagree with them since they are widows. If you don't think their exposure was politically motivated (by them or those that put them on a platform) you have your head in the sand.

On the evening news last night some White House spokesperson (not somebody I recognized, and not one of 'the usual suspects') was very much treating her like a rabid (female) dog...he was backing away slowly.

"Nope. Didn't come with us. Didn't ride in our car to the party....never seen her before...." :;-):

How about this as a starting point:

"In her book, Coulter said, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

She didn't enjoy the 5 million dollar spending spree?:banghead:

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=843920&page=1

So Trant spent $1.5 million to nearly triple the size of her suburban New York home. She spent $350,000 on the back yard, installing a full basketball court also equipped for volleyball, tennis and Rollerblading, a heated pool and a hot tub.

I wonder how much fun it would have been for her if he died falling down the stairs?
