all it takes is one deep groove to ruin a set of rotors. i had to replace my rears with the first pad change.

grooves are bad, since you can't have the rotors turned. you will have some small grooves but if the rotor is thinner than the min specs replace them.

Putting new pads on grooved or warped rotors causes the rotors to eat up the new pads. I tried to be cheap one time and put new pads on grooved rotors and the rotors ate up the new pads in only a few months.

Sean is right, the rotors aren't supposed to be turned. They'll end up being too thin afterwards. Be prepared, it takes a bit more effort to change the rotors and they tend to be more expensive (like anything else for LR).

touch the rotors. If they're bumpy -you may wanna change them. Although, I've had min spec rotors before which were pretty smooth and the pads I put on lasted a long time anyway. You've gotta use your gut and make the call on this one. - E
