265/75R16 Mickey Thomspon M/Ts. Good tires, havent had any issues with them. A lot quieter on pavement than initially expected. A bit pricy to keep replacing though.

KM2's a little noisey, more so than the KM's at this point. They hook up, short of getting high centered these tires wont loose forward momentum. I am a believer after nearly getting stuck 2 weeks ago, I was running 25psi as opposed to the 45 I generally run. I am sure the lowered pressure had something to do with it. The only other tire I would ever consider is the Radial Rover RT.

285 75 16 Cooper Discoverer stt. I had KM1s and like these much better. They seem to have a little better traction and are better at releasing mud and clay.

235/85/16 michelin ltx a/t2's on the disco. best all terrain I have ever tried. and super quiet on the highway and grippy in the mud, like real grippy. not so good in the rocks, too narrow IMO.

275/65/18 cooper discoverer atr's on the range rover. good on the highway and in the wet, havent tried them off road yet...

295/70/17 terra grapplers on my old 4runner. good a/t, but they were huge and great in the rocks. never took it in the mud. id like this size on the D2 next time.

Where the hell have you been Perry? Thought you fell off the map. Anyway like you I've tried all those you metioned et al including one of your old Trexus. I'm running the KM2s now and I am very impressed so far. They balance nice. One of mine doesn't even have a weight on it:eek: and it's balanced.

Cheers,

Mike

Yep, been away for a bit....focusing on shooting sports for the last few months but I'm wanting to hit the trails again soon. The tech that balanced my LTB spent forever and never did get them balanced well. It takes the fun out of getting to the trails if you bounce the whole way there. Add to that the truck sets for days at a time and the flat spots on those Bias ply's (especially in the cold) take a LONG time to round out. They didn't seem as bad when I got them so I could have lost a weight but either way I'm ready to switch em' out. Lucky for me the truck is used for fun so the tires last forever.

Lots of food for thought here.....thanks everyone.

Quit trying to balance swampers with weights, you end up tearing them off on rocks anyway. I put 6 ounces of plastic BB's in each tire, even worked with LTBs on beadlocks.

Musky used to rock the 285 SSR sipped. Hard tire to beat for our terrain. These will endup on my truck.
I have KM1 255's sipped. Just not wide enough but pretty darn good tire.

speaking of 110... What is the standard tire size on a 110?
My speedo is exactly 10% short of true... I wonder if I should swap in the speed sensor from my old LT230.

I need new tires, but I'm not feeling it with the KM2's, and I'm certainly not feeling the SSR's. Why can't the manufacturers build an MT tire that has good looks, tough sidewalls, and that lasts 25k miles without beating the shit out of your truck? The KM1 was that tire, for the most part. The KM1's biggest weakness was mud, but it was far better than the MT/R.

I never had liked anything Cooper ever came out with MT wise.
Firestones are a joke.
Bridgestone makes some decent tires, but the look is not right for a Rover, IMO.
Same with Nitto; the Nitto's look really nice on the newer trucks, I think, but not the older Discovery's and RRC's.
Procomps are a pile if shit.
I'm not sure about the Micky T's. The MTZ looks like a nice tire, but you only see them on show trucks....
I don't know about the Toyo's, either. I'm sure the Toyo tire is fine when it comes to build quality, but I can't help but wonder about its performance.
The old MT/R's were shit. The new MTR, the ugly one, has me a little interested. But with Kevlar sidewalls it makes me wonder if the tire can support the weight of the Rover.

cooper makes pro-comps (so i've heard) and my XMTs have been good to me. they barely needed to be balanced and I've easily put 25K on them. I still have atleast 2/3 tread left and thats with a decent amount of wheeling. I'd have no problem buying another set if i didnt want to just try something different next time.

Dan--the Dunlop Mud Rovers have been good on the RRC. Of course, she doesn't see more than a few thousand miles of driving a year. But they ride pretty nice and have held up so far.

They were pretty cheap so they might not last very long mileage-wise but I think we only paid ~$100 per tire in the 245/75/16 size (on special).

255/85/16 Maxxis Bighorns. Little less than half tread after around 25,000 miles. They are on the original balance.
