So I get home, its hot (yesterday), and I was my car. I get in to go to autozone and right there is a crack in my windshield. Its S-shaped in the middle of the glass and comes from the very bottom about halfway up. Was it caused because my glass was hot and then I put cold hose water on it? I called to get it replaced and they said its going to cost like $240 and the only glass they have available in the US has the line of green tint at the top and my rover is blue. Any ideas?

That's very possible. Especially if it's very cold water/big temperature difference. You sometimes see that here in the winter. Going from having the vehicle sit outside in the winter into a warm wash bay and you blast hot water against a very cold windshield you can crack it.

'Cept for the tint thing. Don't buy your glass from the garbage man, and there won't be any issue with the tint color. Also, make sure they replace the upper and side moldings, they really don't take well to being yanked off the old glass and glued to the new one.
On a DI you can get a windshield with blue tint across the top.
A good Glass shop can get it. You want a Pilkington (or LOF) brand Glass.
The part # FW 2002 GBN $174 w/o moldings but you need them to do it right.
The moldings part # ML2002BLK Add $200
At lease you will to top and side molding
I get them from dealer for $30 a side and $40 for the top +tax no markup.

I just replaced mine last week, when an big ol' piece of asphalt hit the windshield underneath the drivers wiper blade- put a "bullet hole" the size of a $.50 piece. Glass company picked up the truck, four hours later it was done. The irony of all of it is, is that the windshield was replaced before at the dealer where the PO bought it (Frick's dealer), and it was replaced with CLEAR GLASS!!! Now, I have a tinted windshield, eventhough all the other windows are black tint including the alpines.
Speaking of windshields, where is a good place to get one done on a D2 in Florida, Oralndo area preferably? I had a replacement put in a few years ago and to make a long story short, the window is crap and the installation job was crap. I's like to find a place that could reaplce all of the mouldings and install a good quality windshield.
