So I was in a terrible accent yesterday, Some guy pulled out infront of me crossing the road... I was going about 40+ and he pulled out not even a car lenght away from me... He was driving a 4 door saturn and i was in my baby.. Insurance company said its going to most likely be totalled, but we'll see this week. Air bads went off and i need a whole new front clip. However it didnt push the rad support at all and i was able to drive it home. I still in shock.. I have put so much time into this thing, and have had an excellent time driving it, Thank God I was in the Landy though, Otherwise I wouldnt be so fortunate. The only reaction i had was to put my head back and slam the brakes with both feet. I am surprised i was able to react like that. I destroyed his car... buckeled his roof almost in half and popped his sunroof up ... blew out most of his windows, his center pillar hit him in the chest. I called him today and he appologized like crazy (he was written a citation for failure to yeild) 100% his fault. He told me i broke all his golf clubs that were in his trunk... I guess it broke all the heads off, and he said the impact broke his key chain and every key was under his passenger seat with the exception of his ignition key...

Anyways I am waiting on the Insurance company to send an adjuster... And I went out to look for another veh today. Kansas has limited rovers I guess Atleast wichita area.. I am looking at a 03 discovery se7... but im crossing my fingers that they can save my rover.. Ill post pics as soon as i can get them off my phone

Sorry to hear of your loss. But it's good to hear that your Rover saved you.

Bummer on that. My wife's family is from Kansas, parents live in Hutchinson. I have never seen a Land Rover around there. Glad you're OK.

That thing held up great for 40mph.. Glad to hear that no one was injured.

My wife pulled into the path of a Toyota Camry in her D2 a couple years ago, totalled the Camry, Disco needed a quarter panel and rear bumper. I wouldn't have my family in anything else, these things are Tanks!

Shit, I think it looks great!

If you can get the insurance company to give you like five or six-thousand bucks, I'd invest it in a Hannibal rack, a bunch of Hella driving lamps, some nifty ladders - and with the exception of a slimline A-bar with a gigantic winch, I'd like the front end as-is.

If you put a bunch of stickers on the quarter window, people will figure it happened off-roading. You could get some chicks with that thing!

Unless you are married. Glad to hear you're okay.

If the INS company is going to let you drive it until you can get it fixed, I have a stock front bumper if you need one. Some companies won't let you drive it until the bumper is fixed.

Also see if the repair shop will quote an ARB style bumper vs. the factory bumper and pushbar. It will be cheaper.

I live in Hesston,KS (35 miles north of Wichita).

Isn't it like $1.5k per airbag fix? So just with the 2 airbags going off, you're at a repair cost of $3k. It might be totaled.

I wonder what the damage would have been without the brush guard? It seems to me that that the brush guards typically inflict more damage when pushed on while off-road.

Factory brush bars are really nothing than a decorative accessory and nothing more. They probably do more damage when they mess up the fenders when they are falten out and of course the Bar is damaged too!

Glad all is ok

I feel for you as I went throught the samething 5 years ago with my 96D1. The one thing that I agree on with the others here is if you get your truck back, look at gettting an arb bumper or whatever gets your fancy and look to improve your truck. My truck came back better than before actually. The only thing that truely sucked about my situation was my truck sat for 4.5 months while it waited for parts!!!

yeah, Swa j-ten's rover looks worse than that, and he still drives it! :D

Gives you a good start on an off-road only beast.

Glad you're ok.

my first land rover, a 98 disco, was involved in a similar wreck. we were traveling at about 35 mph and upon entering an intersection, a car coming from the left did not stop at the red light. no time, just nailed this lady.the front right of the LR hit just behind her b pillar. she was in a dodge intrepid. ripped off the entire rear end of the car. i drove home. not a scratch on us. she left in an ambulance and so did her three unbuckled children. they ended up all being OK, but no license, no ins, no seatbelts, and a retarded driver.

after all was said and done, the truck was vauled at 12,5K and the damages, although not bad at all, and very similar to yours, were estimated at $10K. they totalled my truck. i was devastated because they onyl gave me $700 extra for over $6500 in upgrades. about half of which were less than a month old.

i ended up buying the truck back for $1900 and fixed it myself. now my ex has it and its still going strong!!!!!

glad to hear eveyone made it out safely. good luck on a new truck.
