Alright, I'm driving along in my 96 D1 I just purchased yesterday.. And all the sudden she dies... I pull over and hear a clicking under the dash, while key is in 2nd position... will turn over but won't start. Make a long story short found yellow relay thats clicking under dash, near ECU, removed it cleaned it and reinstalled and she started fine with no clicking, just once... Now still clicking and won't start!!! Any help would be appreciated... Thanks, Matt

My starter recently went out and I could hear a faint clicking behind the dash. Just something to check if the relay isn't the problem.

I'm having the same problem. She dies when driving, doesn't start half of the time, and now I have a relay under the passenger side of the dash that's clicking when the ignition is in the on and starting position. I tried replacing the relay, and it still clicks, and doesn't start. Any idea's, or did you ever find out what was wrong with yours?

Thanks,
Ryan

Fixed it on mine, it ended up being the large relay in the engine compartment between the charcoal canister and the wiper fluid resevoir. Kind of trapazoidal mounted to teh side wall there.

How the heck to you figure that out? Mine had these symptoms with clicking and no starting the last time I ran through a carwash. Let it sit for a couple hours, and it started right up.

Well, mines been worse than the carwash, mines been doing it for about three weeks. A friend at the dealership said to check that sensor, I swapped it with the one on my other rover, and then it was working, and the other rover wasn't. Leaves me pretty confident that that was the problem.
