once it gets above 40 degrees i am heading out to try this on the 1996. some shop in town was doing warranty work on the truck and didn't get the linkage in right. damn thing is in 4 low when it should be in 4 high. all screwed up. time for drilling.

I sprayed with with two kinds of penetrating lube and also reached up from underneath and sprayed a bunch more. No luck freeing it up that day, but days later I finally did. One product that I used is Fluidfilm which seems to work great on rusty stuff.
