My d1 with 150k miles all of a sudden started only working in 1st and 2nd gear. I dropped the pan last night to change the fluid out and probably around 6 quarts drained out. I added fresh fluid and it still won't shift into the higher gears. Should I take it to a shop to have the fluid completely flushed out? Trying to get this fixed so I can go see my family for Thanksgiving.

Mine did the same thing...only reverse was the only gear working. The old fluid was probably on borrowed time, the time has run out. Get a new tranny from a vendor, probably around $200. just cut your losses.

Last year my 92 RRC lost reverse and had trouble shifting the forward gears too. Changed fluid with no difference. Just replaced with a good used one from Marty and it runs great again.

I can't recall if the linkage on a D1 is the same as a classic but I had the linkage bind up, a small cable that looks like a cable bind and it would'nt alow acceleration and I lost the high shift point ..kinda of confusing , have a peak behind the linkage.

Mine was having trouble shifting from 2nd, I did the fluid and filter then wheeled it for two days. My transmission shifts hard but is working a lot better now.
