Uhaul says the Disco is too heavy...

Penske and the like will only let you tow with their trucks only.

I plan to tow my Disco with my F350 one way from San Antonio to El Paso.

Anybody have any suggestions in terms of options?

I ran into the same issue a last year. The rental houses all have backed off renting trailers for larger vehicles. I found a local rental shop and towed a RRC with my sons Silverado 2500 but that was round trip/ same day. Your issue will be the 'one way'.

Have any friends with a car hauler?

not that I would condone doing something like drillbit suggests but it works out just fine doing it that way :D

Well, I've thought about that...however, what if their trailer can't handle the Disco's weight?

it can handle the weight for sure, its just that people tear vehicles up with heavy loads and try to blame uhaul for letting them rent it in the first place. if you were to haul something you didnt specify, in the event that something did happen, you could be found negligent for hauling the disco when told to not. my .02

I used a uhaul dual axle car trailer to haul a 00 ML320 behind the RRC. No issues, I would say however that is about the limit for the RRC to drag behind it's porky ass.

I hauled my DI from WI to CO using a UHaul trailer. Without any problems. I just didn't tell them I was towing the Disco the second time I called :)

tell them you're towing a sentra or compact car. They don't mandate that you put the car on the tow dolly in front of them. Don't forget to drop the driveshaft after putting it on the dolly.

I towed a modified DI on a car hauler behind a DII across I-40 (through the mountains) with no problems...and back. You will be fine.

chris and I went through 2 trailers hauling his f150 back from cali.. If we hadn't had a approved vehicle on the trailer I doubt they would have let us take the second one, luckily it died after we made it back to san antonio.

OK, so no tow bar- cool. I'll be towing my sons mercedes to Galveston using a tow dolly, so what I'll do is maybe 'test fit' my D1 on there.

Thanks for all the input dude-bros (Sirius listeners).

Oh man....what Sean didn't tell you is how the first trailer's brakes locked up and set the tires on fire on the 10 and the 605 in LA in the middle of rush hour on a 10-lane freeway and how we sat on the side of that freeway for six (or was it eight?) hours for Ryder to replace the trailer...and how 300,000 cars passed us (we did the math) and nobody stopped to help us. Screw LA and screw Ryder trailers :p
