TJM departure angle, rear bumper

I like the design of the TJM D1 rear bumper, mainly because it keeps the stock look with the inclusion of the lights on the bumper. I drive alot in the winter and use the rear fogs quite often for better visibility to other drivers; seems rear-end collisions are common when the snow/fog rolls in, especially on I-70. So, I need those lights to be included in whatever rear bumper I decide to get.

The design overall seems pretty strong on this bumper, however, I'm curious as to the departure angle. It looks like it actually hangs lower than the stock bumper. Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this design? Yes, I drag my rear on lots of obstacles, mainly on the receiver, but still, I for sure do not want to lessen the angle. Is this the right bumper for me, or am I making a sacrifice on the departure angle for the sake of having lower lights and stock appearance?

Cheers,
Jacquelyne

I've got the TJM for the D1. I don't think it hangs any lower than a stock bumper. It is out a little farther by the hitch, but I don't think it affects the departure angle. Don't expect anything out there to eliminate the rear from dragging. Even if you got a Safari Gard that eliminates the hitch, you'll still hit.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't any lower than the stock bumper. Are you satisfied with the overall purchase? How about the finish, is it holding up well?

Thanks again,

So far so good. The powder coat seems pretty good. I've had it through a winter in Chicago and no rust. The same can't be said for my sliders that I bought around the same time. I have no buyers remorse.
