I went to an alignment shop to get a 4 wheel alignment on my 96 D1. The thrust angle is not adjustable but I was told it was about 3/4 of a degree off. Since it's not adjustable, does anybody know how to "fix" the thrust angle?

This generally means that your rear axle is "out of line," and pushing away from the center line of the vehicle. I am not completely sure how you would fix that in your situation, but you may have a bent radius arm, bent axle, or bent frame (be it mounts or the frame itself). These are the usual reasons for the thrust angle to be off.

I have personally seen and measured a brand new Land Rover 110 frame(not a galvy knock off) that was 3/4" out in the rear from one side to the other. All components were fine, the mounts on the frame were off..... WTF?.. :ack:

I would be looking at the radius arm and trailing arm bushings.

if the truck dosent have wierd handeling as you roll on and off the throttle I wouldent worry about it.

if is sways or wants to change lanes then I would be looking for the culprit bushing.

Is it possible to shim the trailing arm to correct the thrust angle? Anybody tried this?

your talking about shimming something that uses rubber bushing to maintain the thrust angle.

Dont be a idiot.

start by checking all the bushing to see if any are cracked, collapsed or just plain worn out.

you never answered if the truck sways when you roll on and off the throttle?

dont let some alignment guy that knows jack shit about these trucks worry you about 3/4 of a degree.

i agree with musky......if you cant tell if your truck wants to change lanes when you let off of the gas pedal then i say your fine....just worry about your front toe settings and you'll be fine
