Yep life and limb. Try shoving a 430mm length spring into a space that is hardly designed to accept a 385mm spring. I had to use ratchet straps on either side of the sock to compress it to fit that son of a gun in there. All you guys kept talking about how easy the spring install is and how you don't need a compressor. Anyway now I see why you all said it was so easy in the first place. You were not trying to ram a square peg through a round hole.
What a funny man you are. You must be canadian.

Well it is easy for a 2" D2 front spring. D1 springs you will need a compressor. Why didn't you set your wrench down and run to auto zone and rent a compressor when you noticed that it wasn't going to fit in there? I would get one when you change them out, it doesn't cost anything to rent them. fwiw get one that compresses from either side and not down the center of the spring.

Here is the point. My stock springs are way way way shorter than the wrong springs RoversNorth sent out. The d1 and defender springs seats are actually about the same as the rear of the d1, d-90. The D2 spring seat is probably about 3 inches shorter than the rear. Doing some rough math I am shoving a 5 inch to long spring into this space. (this is after three calls now to RN to ask if this is really what I am supposed to do). A compressor of sorts was used, but even compressors are dangerous in my book. Bottom line is this. I am over it. The lift kit is coming off tonight, the stock setup is going back in. The stuff is going back to Rovers North and some General Grabber AT2's are going on Friday.

The way Rovers North explained it over the phone is that the stuff was shipped wrong from Terra Firma. Do not buy that stuff if you are tempted until Terrafirma and RN get this worked out. At least if you do order it make sure the part number for the front spring is RNA052.

Well, you can be lazy and not unbolt the shocks and sway bars - you'll spend as much time fighting with the springs.
No problem with D1/RRC springs at all.

Justin and I get shipments from the wholesaler of Terra Firma stuff. They don't make many mistakes, but they aren't perfect.

I've bought hundreds of thousands of dollars in parts from Rovers North. They make mistakes, but very few.

The last guy that was perfect got nailed to a cross. It happens, just be glad the shipping guy isn't your heart surgeon.

I wasn't nailed to any cross.

I think Rovers North screws up our shipping costs 20% of the time. Just yesterday they we received 3 dif guards, but in two separate boxes even after we told them to ship it all as one order.

I am not trying to place blame so much as save the rest of you time and money. I make mistakes every day, so I am not about to get on my high horse. Here is my point. Instead of spending the day at the pool with my 3 and 5 year old sons, I spent the day and 200 bucks under my truck, doing something that was doomed from the get go. For 2 days my wife was driving an unsafe vehicle with the same 3 and 5 year old kids in the truck.

If Terrafirma or RoversNorth in fact has a bad batch of shocks and springs I would like to help other d2 owners not share in my same troubles. I gave you all the part number for the correct springs. Before you order make sure you have that part number.

Pulled the terrafirma stuff, and installed old stuff in 2 hours and 15 minutes last night! My heart surgeon has been one of best friends since 6th grade. Heart desease is rampant in my family. He is NOT allowed to make mistakes.

I have the kit sitting in the back of my disco, ready to be installed Monday at the shop. Thanks for the heads up. My invoice has terra firma coil spring set RNA052 and RNA027v for the rear. How do you like the proper kit? I got a set of 15" wheels from ebay and will look at tires after the spring/shock install.....can't wait:D

Hey Ed, Welcome to D-web...you're running a 2" TF lift, or is it the 3" TF lift with the +2 shocks that Justin has listed on his site? I was on te line with Justin last week and asked about these kits...he said they still didn't have a 2" TF kit for the DII yet.

I've been following your thread on one of the other forums, but keep forgetting to ask about this. The pix over there look great, but my wife is short so the difference between a 2" and 3" kit might cause me a lot of grief...

Slight hijack...I see the OME lift is only $98 more than the Terrafirma...any reason I should chose the TF over the OME?

I think I saw that the TF gives an additional 1/2"...but I think the quality is a little more proven on the OME?
