Tcase front output housing question.

I just got done taking off my front output housing on my tcase to replace it with a housing that has a CDL http://toddcosuspensions.com/diiilodi.html

My question is what kind of liquid seal do I use between the Front housing and the main housing?

Also, I read in the RAVE I need to apply loctite to the bolts that connect the front housing to the main housing. Is the Blue loctite the right stuff? It is medium strength.

Thanks

Thanks for the link, lots of goodies there.

Anytime. The guy who runs it, Todd, is a real nice guy. I got what I ordered in two days shipped from Tennessee. And he has been answering all my phone calls no matter time to answer my questions on the CDL installation.

Man, that's expensive. I can get a complete junkyard (w/ diff lock) LT230 for $150 all day locally. That would include this "kit" and a bunch of spares for the T-case itself.

I have met Todd at Tellico on several occasions, I love his buggy, that thing is awesome.

Then you should get all those beloved LT230 tcases with CDL and make a profit. Because there are never any in the junkyards here, I check. Also most junkyards who sell through carparts ask anywhere from 300-1200 bucks for a used tcase. Most have high mileage and most are not even rebuilt. Also, I don't have the tools to drop a Tcase and switch in a new one. And I don't feel like spending big bucks to have a local shop do it.

Also, I'd rather help out a fellow rover owner to keep his business of selling rover gear alive. Then throwing money to a junkyard. ;)

To each his own, I suppose. Is a locking LT230 really worth more than $150? I could very honestly have at least half a dozen at that price.

Also, just curious what you'd need to remove a T-case that you would not be necessary to swap the front housing. I just pulled the case out of my parts truck and all the tools necessary were just common hand tools. Maybe a friend to help get it lined up again. I think there's a common misconception that it's a big job, but it's really not. Again, to each his own....

I don't need to remove the tcase just to switch the front housing. But it is a lot more work or money (if you pay someone) to swap tcases.

The front housing is 40pounds. I bet the whole tcase is pretty heavy. And No way in hell am I dropping a tcase laying on my back.

Looks like you have some customers.

No kidding, I'll take one, too. You can't find hardly anything on a Disco here around Chicago after it hits the yard. If it's that plentiful and easy, heck, you could pay for all your mods and several trips just stripping xfer cases. What a sweet deal! Let me know when you've got some pulled. :)

Well, if I have to pick it up from the yard and ship it to you, it's going to be $250 plus actual shipping. My time and effort aren't free. If anyone is seriously interested in this, let me know. I can make this happen anytime.

Yep. I switched out my non-CDL front output housing for one with CDL. It was a pain in the ass. But possible.

What are you trying to do? I saw you post in another thread. Just need to re-seal the front housing?

yeah but the write ups I have seen online on this and other forums do not show the same tcase I have, the sensors and the bolts are at different positions than diagrams so I got to the last bolt and figured i'd wait for replies...just trying to stop the dam thing from leaking so much at each and every seal
