Stolen Rover in Utah

My guess is Santa's sleigh broke down and he needed something he knew would get him back to the North Pole. All joking asside, I woke up this morning to find my '96 discovery gone. My guess is it was my druggie brother or one of his friends, who I know have broken into the garage before and stolen tools to pawn when they needed a fix. Also whoever it was came into the house and got the keys off the key rack in the kitchen.

I've been driving around all morning trying to locate my brother, and left him messages telling him he had until 4pm to get ahold of me, or I was going to the police. For all of you Utah people out there, If you could keep an eye out for it, if you see it today give me a call, if you see it after today, and I haven't reported back to you all that it has been found, call the police, I would appreciate it.

I'ts a 1996 Land Rover Discovery, Willow Green, 2.5" lift, Rovertym front bumper with welded on stock brush guard, rovertym rock sliders, Roof Rack with 4 hella's on it, and a sticker in the back window that says, "ASEPO, The Alliance of Special Effects and Pyrotechnic Opperators" The License plate is 343 MFX. I'll post a picture as well.

Thanks,
Ryan

That sucks. At least your truck stick out and and would be easy to spot. I know there are not a lot of modded rovers around middle TN. So I always figured that if one of my trucks were stolen then at least people would notice it.

That sucks Ryan. Any update on the rig today? What in the hell does your brother think he is gonna do with it?

I will keep an eye out. My rig looks kinda similar, but is a '98 so don't anyone get too confused here ;)

Hey, Rover recovered Last night. Thanks for keeping an eye out guys. It was in fact my brother and his friends. We are tired of all his crap and have involved the police, looks like they will file it as a breech of trust. Still not knowing who had taken it and why was hell. When I asked him why he snuck in and stole it, he said I would have never let him take it otherwise. Kinda pissed me off.

He only returned it after we had found his phone record, his mail is still comming here, and called every number on it letting them know that we think he had stolen the rover, were involving the police, and if it was found at their place, we'd press charges against them too now that they knew it was stolen. Within a half hour of making the calls he was home.

Still don't want to get him in any more trouble, he's allready up on felony drug charges on the 3rd, and the only reason he isn't in jail right now is they are overbooked over the hollidays, . Hopefully he'll get some some help from all this.

Thanks guys, and Happy Hollidays!

Ryan

Sometimes the best thing you can do to help him is to screw him HARD with the legal system. It either wakes them up or puts them away- either way you at least get the answer as to whether or not he'll make the effort to amount to something some day.
I had a friend in the same predicament as you and they did a *professional* intervention and it worked REALLY well- the kid was on his last 'strike' with the legal system and now three years later owns his own business and is getting married. Something to consider....

I hope all works out for him Ryan and he gets the help he needs. Gotta be tough seeing your brother go through a rough patch. Glad you got your rig back as well.

Thanks guys,
We've tried everything with him over the past two years. Finally got the Law involved a year ago November, and he's been in and out of jail since then. His next court date is a big one, and his Lawyer assures us he will be spending some quality time in jail after this. We feel bad, we didn't want him locked up forever, we just wanted him to get the help we obviously could provide. We still pray he'll turn around and make something of his life, he's only 21, but after 2 years of this, and my mom loosing her hair from stress, it's time he started taking responsability for his actions and spends some time in jail.

Thanks everyone,
Ryan
