My local independent shop said the Land Rover recommended interval is 7,500 to 10,000 miles but they advised to never exceed 7,500 miles. At first I thought less than 7,000 miles would be good but then I figured less than 6,000 miles would be cheap insurance. My average over 7 oil changes is 5,725 miles. If I change every 6,000 miles then over 100,000 miles I'll end up doing 3.33 more oil changes than if I observed a 7,500 mile interval. At about $230 an oil change service at my local shop, that adds up to $766.67 which is considerable but cheap compared to timing chains.
