So is my D2 an anomaly?

After the never ending threads of cams blowing up, liners slipping, radiators clogging, sumps sludging, t-case bearings getting loose and all of the other things that go kaboom, is my D2 an anomaly at 171k? I even submarined it!
Engine is smooth, a little chatter sometimes from the lifters but it is relatively quiet. A little gear whine from the rear end sometimes, watss linkage is rattly.
Other than the flood which claimed a few ecus, alternator, water pump and possibly the trans but it is debatable.
and even though it ha sbeen through all of that, it is still nicer than any of the d2's I looked at for the wife before I bought the RR....

I always use good oil that has the sheer rating. 5/40w is good for me. I learned that distilled water works much better and keeps the annual throttle body heater gasket leak at bay. Always change all of the gear and trans oil anually...

Heck Im on the original Rotoflex. It has been 20k since the flood too....

Never speak the name of the tiger!

Never brag on your truck or it will break down sooner than immediatly.

Some people just pay attention to what's happening to their vehicles (or significant others).
Like, have a habit of watching the temp gauge a couple of times a minute. Or listen to the engine while it's running. Or notice the change in transmission shifts.
If you are one of these people, and you've had a truck since its baby days, you may be luckier than the others.

$500! My final offer. ;)

I'm with you, my 99 had an AT at 38K miles and a couple of radiators. And other than the bags of trash that have leaked "stink juice" in the rear, it's a perfect truck! \O/

Hey, its worth more because it survived the flood, so it is "weathered" now.

and the water wasn't deep, the quick sand was...:banghead:

all of the pics were after the flood.... the pic below is how deep the water was.

I just READ a thread about the window regulator glide breaking the other day (didn't post) and mine broke on the way home.

Can't imagine what you are in for now....!! I'm betting the rotoflex.

the secret to head gasket preservation

1-warm her up all 4 seasons, 5 mins in summer 10mins winter, always

2-dont use coolant that required mixing. the premix stuff is mixed with DISTILLED, DEIONIZED RO WATER,I 'flush' with antifreeze, not water

3-never ever cheap out on oil and use a a3/b3 always

4-never go past 2k rpms when cold or during 1st 15 mins of use

5-change water pump out pre-emptively

6-face solihul 5 times a day and pray

We should sacrifice a virgin to appease the gods. Then only one on the board is probably Dante. Maybe Garrett will do the honors?
